SAK Multi-purpose Hook (Parcel Carrier)

Ah yes, a postal package. That gets stringed up here, too. Sometimes. But you don't need a parcel hook for that ;) .
Can a SAK withstand the weight of full paper boxes ? Wow! (I would just carry such a box in my arms. I don't trust those ties. I've had the joining point breaking on me a couple of times.)

You know those key-locked toilet paper dispensers in public bathrooms? You know the ones you ALWAYS have to dig way up inside when you lose the end of the paper after pulling off a piece? A guy told me that if you have the knack, you can spring that stupid security key lock on it and just get the roll out. Now that I've heard this, I want to try this some day. Who would have thought? :)

What skinflint locks up TP? I mean, its usually that ubercheap, bottom of the line stuff anyway. I can't think of anybody WANTING to steal that scratchy ineffective stuff LOL.

Victorinox had a TV ad a while back where a guy used it to fish his glasses out of a toilet after accidentally dropping them to illustrate that there are many ways to use the tools on a SAK. But in actuality, they debate getting rid of it every year at Victorinox. It probably will eventually go. Most people just don't use it, at all, and most people are as just confused as the OP as to what the heck it is for.

I used my a lot at my last job for carrying heavy bundles of cardboard spacers or dividers for final packaging of machined parts, they'll sometimes weigh up to 30 pounds and all that holds them together is a thin plastic strap so i'll use the parcel carrier for that. I've used it in the automotive world too to pull wires through holes and anywhere else where it'll fit and I need to pull something through.
I also used it for the one bucket we had at work for putting coolant in the machines. The one the plastic handle bit broke off and it was just the wire and it was uncomfortable picking it up full of 5 gallons of oil/water mix. Coolant is water soluble oil mixed with a certain amount of water. I'd use it to carry that bucket from the pallet jack to the machine.

It's used only go as far as your imagination and the same goes for any other SAK tool. It's a multitool :)
