SAK or Multi-Tool?

It's hard to find one SAK, or one multitool, that will do everything you need. I often carry one of each. Today, for example, I have a Leatherman C2 Juice tool (the red one) and a Victorinox Handyman in my pockets (along with a large Sebenza).

I have tackled the "SAK or multi-tool" delema many times, and there is no easy answer.
The Boy Scout part of me wants to always "be prepared" and have a multi-tool with as many tools as possible.

But the practical part of me says "why carry all the extra weight and bulk when you probably will not use even half the tools".

And the old Soldier part of me says "stick to the basics and improvise the rest".

So, I've come to this conclusion:
No multi-tool or SAK can handle every situation you might encounter, and I have very nice tool kits at home and in both cars, and I'm not a construction worker or mechanic, so there's not much point to me carrying around a full-sized multi-tool.

Lately I've been carrying one of the following: the Leatherman Micra, the Leatherman Squirt P4, the Victorinox Cadet, the Victorinox Electrician, or the Wenger Serrated Backpacker.
Today it's the Wenger (and my CRKT Bladelock).

Good luck,
Allen.

Well, I used to carry a LM Wave almost everywhere. Then one day, I realized - how often am I that far away from my car?

The honest answer is, only when backpacking/hiking.

At work, I'm all of about 150 feet away from my car. At home, about the same. On the weekends, I'm still pretty close, whether at the gym, the movie theater, the beach, or just out having a good time.

A multitool has saved my bacon a few times. But, every time, it has been because I didn't have the right tool in my car.

So, I stopped carrying the multitool and started carrying more tools in the car.

Some people need portable tools on a more regular basis than I do. That's understandable. But, I think most city dwellers would be better off spending the $50-100 on a few decent full-on tools for the car, and maybe a cheap SAK.

I'm still gonna get that SOG Powerlock, though. :)

Target has them on sale here. I think it's $47 a couple of bucks cheaper than Walmart.

Thank you. I forgot all about Target, and there's one just a few minutes out of my way going in to work. Was about to pay $55+$6 shipping, and have to wait a few days for it to get here.
