Ok guys for those of you who sarry saks!!!

whats your favorite sak?

:D (mine is the farmer)

Currently the Trailmaster, which I'm planning on butchering to make one-handed, with a second blade (from an old huntsman) & swap the locking mechanism over to the opposite side (where it should be)

Otherwise, cybertool, for my job (mucking around inside laptops mostly)

The Huntsman. It was my first SAK. I guess I have a sentimental attachment to it. Once I get settled in to my new house, I'll be making a set of micarta scales for it. The old plastic scales have seen better days. This SAK deserves a face lift for all its trusty years of service.

My Cybertool 34 also gets A TON of use at work. I love that screwdriver set!!!

Although the farmer is my favorite the huntsman does have a special place in my heart! it was the second knife my dad ever gave to me. I received it in 1983 when I graduated form military school (8th grade). Unfortunatley mine was run over by my neigbors lawnmower. I had lost it walking through his yard. I did not find out its fate until years later when he, my dad and I were talking and he mentioned the sak he found when he was cutting his grass (years ago). To say the least the lawnmower had done a job on it, cosmetically, but it did still function though!!! my Mother, bless her heart gave me a new one for Christ-mas in 1998!!! I take much better care of the new one, than I did the old one!!!

Buzz, what about somne stag, or horn, or wood (exotic, stabilzed, ect.) for it? I took my old one and made osage scales for it. Ive also done one in walnut, buffalo horn, and stag.

For whatever reason, the Soldier.
simple, staightforward pocket knife.

The Tinker. I've been through several in the last 19 years. Got my first one at Service Merchandise when I joined the Scouts at age 11.

Favorite: Night Messenger. In my pocket (on my key chain) everyday. I also have an Executive and a one-handed Trailmaster.

My most carried SAK is the Tinker. I've carried one for years. But, my Fav is between the huntsman and the trailmaster (old style). These two seem to have the tools that I look for and use the most.

The Fisherman ....I bought it in Brighton, England about 8 years ago. It's the only one I've ever owned and used and is still good as new!

The big one that Victorinox made with the green handles and "Mauser" logo on the side. It has 2 bigger blades, one clip and one spear, and a bigger than normal bone saw. I try to buy them whenever I find them cheap. I think I have 3 now. :)

Huntsman (my EDC), Soldier, Trailmaster, Craftsman, more or less in that order, hoping to get a Farmer one day, have put wood handles in some.

Currently I'm choosing between an older alox Cadet (with two blades, no nail file) and an ecoline Waiter. It'll probably be the Waiter, though.

Good to see so many thumbs up for the Huntsman.

Tough question. I guess I would say Tinker, since it is my oldest and most used SAK. Hard to vote against the Pioneer series though. I would be willing to trade off the tweezers and toothpick for an Alox-handled Tinker. That would be sweet.

My favorite is the Rucksack, I also carry a red Pioneer (farmer) or a Cadet to the office.

Regards,
FK

Recruit-got two of them. I thought I'd like some of the larger models, but found that the Recruit has everything I need most of the time short of pliers. Some days I'll use both blades, both screwdrivers, and the tweezers.
I carry a larger folder, multitool, and "real" pliers (Klein 9" linesman tool) at work, too, but the Recruit comes in handy all the time.

Well I only have one - a Tinker. A great all rounder. It's one of my favorite EDCs - has a great choice of tools but not too bulky. If I get another I may get a Soldier in alox or Recruit

rev_ich, I like the one-handed Trailmaster. Other than the one-hand opening and locking main blade, the knife is pretty much like the standard Trailmaster. The main blade locks up secure enough for me (some others have posted that they experienced too much vertical blade play). Word to the wise: Try before you buy. The lock disengages by pushing the liner left to right instead of right to left like most liner locks. (Needless to say, lefties will like this feature). Another word of caution, the serrations on the main blade is on the front part of the blade rather than the rear. It's an unusual configuration but it doesn't bother me too much since the serrations are mild compared to say, Spyderco teeth.

As with SAKs, this knife is very versatile. It's the type of knife I would take to a picnic--lots of tools for unexpected tasks and not "too tactical" in looks. My only druther is the sheath (additional purchase) should have had an option for horizontal belt carry. Heck, for around $27 bucks it's a "no brainer" purchase. I sure wish Spyderco would come out with their version of this knife.
