Hands down one handy little implement....Love'em Have yet to dull mine but I imagine after enough use it will happen...any way to resharpen these??? I imagine vitorinox will do it if you send it back..but I mean on your own or in the field...

those swiss folks know how to make a compact no nonsense survival tool, i dont know if you can set the saw teeth in the field. they could be sharpened with a small file. i love my one hand trekker it goes everywhere with me.

Yeah, my Farmer is an amazing, compact, outdoor knife. No idea, how you coild sharpen it though:confused:

I have heard you sharpen it flat on fine sandpaper, but I am sure green CrO paste would work too. I never had to sharpen one either.

I bought a Nicholson Extra Slim Taper File.

Haven't tried it yet on my SAK because the saw blade is still sharp, so can't say for sure if it will work. If it does, it should also work on my Leatherman saw blade.

Riley,

I've used my SAK Rucksack saw since 2000 pretty constantly, and still never had to sharpen it, and it still cuts as well as when it was new, as far as I can tell!

I've used them a lot, I've cut trees where I had to go all the way around, almost double the length of the saw, if your careful and don't bend them, good luck dulling one. Even hard wood like dried oak doesn't seem to dull them...maybe eventually but they hold up well.

Ditto, as far as I can tell I haven't dulled the saw on the Camper I bought in '93 or so. Used it on boards (ripped one 3 footer, it worked but it hurt), use it for trim work when framing roofs, have cut seasoned oak, birch , (lots of) pine and maple. Amazing saws.

I have a feeling a professional saw sharpener would cost more than simply buying a new SAK. Even the OHT can be had for $35 or so. It would take me for ever to sharpen one by hand. I loaned my OHT to my sister in law and she used the screw driver as a pry bar to open an inground box (several actually). When I got it back the blades wobbled. I just bought another one. To me that is the great virtue of the SAK. I carry a Trekker (same as the OHT except plain blade) every day, It stays on my belt everywhere I go. When, if ever, it wears out, I'll buy another. The blade can be sharpened easily. To me SAK's are like MORAs. Meant to be used and if necessary replaced.

You sharpen the saw like you sharpen a scandie grind, fladt to the stone.
Hope this helps :0)

Edit: Ohh I know this goes with out saying, but I'll do it anyway.... Do not convex it and do not strop it !! (Yeah I know, but if I did not say it, somebody would do it)
