SAK scissors... why?

Clipping tags off of newly purchased clothes (did this today after purchasing ski gloves with PioneerX)
Trimming finger nails (Had to do that twice today while skiing with two split fingernails, used PioneerX))
Clipping leader/line while fishing (Frequent)
Trimming my flies while fly fishing (frequently doing this)
Opening sealed packages of all sorts
Trimming/cutting moleskin patches for heal and toe blisters while backpacking
Used to prepare bandages for first aid applications
Oh, and trimming the "errant" nose hair
I guess one could use a knife blade for some of the above, but way easier with scissors, just saying...............

An excellent summary.

I can't remember the last time I trimmed my fingernails with anything but Victorinox scissors. Nail clippers are crude implements, and biting them is barbaric.

what is the appeal of the scissors

SAK scissors are the most precise that you will find on any multitool. Perfect for removing skin boo boos and other fine detail work requiring precision. You can't do that with Leatherman or other scissors.

SAK scissors are my most-used implement on a tool of this type. I use a blade more than scissors, but carry a folder for speed of deployment.

Even the small scissors of the keychain saks are surprisingly good at cutting paper! They are very precise tools for light use. They are much better than the scissors on my leather man PS4 which have play (though I love that knife and am carrying it along side two victoronox keychain knives right now)

What they all said, and those that are still weighing in. I am never without one or another on my SAKs. Whenever I carry one that has no scissors (the awesome OH Trekker that is my dead on favorite of all time,) I pair it with a Rambler in my 5th pocket, mostly for the scissors, which are surprisingly useable.

For a lot of the reasons others have already listed, the scissors is probably my most used SAK tool. I love my Trekker, but I'd love it more if it had a scissors.

You could always get yourself the classic, or classic alox, to complement the Trekker, and fill that void. Of course there are the Leatherman's to consider as well, such as the Style CS, or the PS4.

I've considered it and my vehicle keychains usually have a small SAK of some description on them. My trekker gets used a lot as a supplement to a fixed blade for camping and general outdoor uses. Supplementing the supplement does start to seem a bit much. :D

Not an image anyone here asked for... but they are great for that flap of skin after you cut yourself using a knife when little scissors were the proper tool for the job.

More generally, the SAK scissors are a crucial in my EDC first-aid system! That alone is a reason to always keep a SAK with scissors around. In addition, with a SAK i get other things and a backup knife to my locking blade. (two is one mentality) :)

And when traveling you get something in case you need to do some emergency clothes mending.

Because like all the other tools on my SAK, it is the one I have on me when and where I need it. For most small jobs, whether it be a snip with the scissors, tightening a screw with one of the screw drivers or opening a can of chili for lunch. It is faster to do it with the tool on my SAK than to go get/find the proper stand alone tool for the job. And then there are times when the tools on my SAK are the only tools available. Like when I am in the back country hiking, or on a weekend road trip on the bike.

O.B.

I always find these threads interesting. I'm with the majority and find the scissors highly useful, in many varied ways. These threads always remind me that people all live different lives with different needs.

The SAK scissors are handy, and does a great job of cutting fine detail on paper. Also sharp enough that you don't have to 'snip-snip' on paper, so it works great if it's all you have to cut wrapping paper.

I love Vic scissors! With two daughters and a wife, I use them to trim threads, tags and whatnot.

The famous SAK scissors are among my favorite tools on the SAK. Very sharp and precise, they're handy and always there! It's one of my favorite tools in fact for all the uses listed above.

I use them quite often as well (and they're the reason why I carry a Classic constantly, no matter what other knife I have in my pocket). But, as others said, we're all different and have different needs.

I find the scissors on my SAKs pretty much worthless. The scissors on my Leatherman Wave are even worse. Garbage.

However, the scissors on my Gerber MP600 Scout and MP400 Compact are very handy. Go figure.

Wow. My experience has been somewhat different. For small scissors, SAKs are the the best, and Leatherman a close second. So you go figure :p .

Nail clippers break trying to trim my claws. The Vic scissors work for me.
