I just found in German MesserForum.net the following exciting news from swissbianco

Let me try to translate:

"I am planning to run for Christmass 2005 a small series of Victorinox Soldier with S30V blade hardened by Paul Bos, with an option between a Kydex-sheath and Titanium clip. Is there any interest? ...etc."

There should be a discussion about this at SOSAK.

I'd buy one of those in a heartbeat. Now, if it only had scissors, it would be perfect .... :)

I hope they do not underestimate the demand for this "small series" run.

I have waited and hoped for a SAK with a better steel for years.

What Nathan and the rest said, but being the revolutionary I am, I would go "clipless". :D

Screw that. I want a SAK with extra tools and NO blades because I always carry a SAK in additonal to a GOOD folder. ;)

I turned a SOG Powerlock into that very thing with a quick call to their customer service and about $20. :)

.

I hope enough are made, because I would be all over it, and my son would want one too. But that little part about it being attractive to collectors because so few would be made has me worried about availability.

hello everyone!

thank you for the nice comments&feedback for that idea.

was mad soon after i get my soldier sak on the first day on military service here on swiss. blade wont cut for long.

then i switch to the lighter sak and they where not cutting better but easy to carry but are somwhat flexible.

as time goes by i work on knives for 10 years now and have make one of my dreamy real, a couple of my own brand sak +Bianco with ats34 blades and damasteel swedish damascus pattern. now for christmas 2005 i planning to do some soldier and same knife with saw with the features mentioned above and get a verry good feedback. if it will be only 20 pcs that will give war we say here :)

i will make 3 proto, diffrent ones, with/without ti clip / kydexsheath etc etc and post pics&prices. then anybody is free to ask for more and i can figure out the number needed. but wont make 100s of em, it should be get a knife for the lover, collector and user allike that now the diffrence.

have to hurry up, im on my way to the blade show, swissbianco table there and i have yesterday finished some nice titanium scaled sak classic with colorful anodising.

sharp regards from switzerland

As long as the price isn't especially high, I'm down for one...make it two. Of course, I have no idea what would be an especially high price for such a project...

You could probably easily get at least a few to several dozen orders just from people here.

The Farmer is the model that's like a Soldier with a saw (at least, that's what it's called on this side of the ocean). An S30V Farmer would be nice too. :)

Ya know, Bastid, I have to agree. I too would go clipless. I've said for years if they put a clip on an SAK I'd get one in a heartbeat, and I've even thought about putting my Dremel to use and putting a clip on one myself.

But the alox scales probably wouldn't be the best for seating screws. And since it's such a heavy knife, it tends to make its way to the bottom of the pocket so that it doesn't come out (at least I've never had my Soldier or any SAK fall out). Add to that, the clip would probably be as big as the knife and that may make it hard to hold and cut with.

I'd love to have an S30V clipless Soldier... I hope I can get my hands on one when the time comes.
