Hello, I'm from Argentina and this is the first time in this forum. :)
What do your prefer for EDC ? SAK, like Champion, for exemple, or a Multi Plier?.
Sorry for my english. I can read very good, but write:thumbdn:, no much.

Regards..

I go with a multi-tool instead of SAK. The pliers are very useful, multi-tools seem to be constructed much more solidly than SAKs, and all of the tools on many multi-tools lock, unlike most (all?) SAKs, and locking screwdrivers and such function so much better than their non-locking counterparts.

You'll find people here with all kinds of opinions, and many SAK fans, but multi-tools are far more functional in my experience.

On my keychain I actually have both a Victorinox Classic SD and a Leatherman Squirt P4, so I have the best of both worlds. I would carry just the Squirt, but the SAK has scissors and the Squirt does not. Add on my main EDC blade and I'm set!

Welcome! I rotate between both, most of the time a Vic Classic and occasionally a LM Squirt S4. The Squirt S4 is a multi-tool with scissors, no pliers.

Hi, and welcome!

I was wondering the same a few years ago. And I ended up with a multitool.
I LOVE a good SAK, but the Multitool is better for 2 reasons:
1. They have real pliers :D
2. The tools lock in position. I just get tired of the screwdrivers of my SAK closing on me :(

Usually the SAKs are lighter and easy to EDC, but if your thinking about a Champion, I recomend the multitool instead...

Welcome to the forum! I carry a small SAK that could be a keyring knife. It has been the handiest knife i own with a small blade, file, screwdrivers,a light, and even a ink pen that has never failed to write.I also have a new leatherman Wave with a 154 CM blade and pocket clip that's been getting a lot of carry time lately.I would tend to prefer the multis for any hard or extended time use.

I carry both, in puches on my belt, every day. I have a SwissChamp with a sharpening steel in the pouch, and a Winchester multi. In the Winchester pouch there is a seperate pocket, in which I keep a magnesium block/firesteel, and a p-38. I know the Winchester is cheap, but it seems to be of good quality. Together, this is a very useful combination for me. I just add a good sharp folder for my pocket, and I am good to go!

I like the multi-tool, the pliers are great, and it has many more bit options for when I'm working with computers.

I rotate between my Leatherman Juice S2 and my favorite SAK, the Victorinox Craftsman. Both have pliers and a blade but i use the Juice S2 for work days and the SAK for weekend(light) carry. I prefer to carry the Leatherman for hard duty work but a good SAK is hard to beat too.

Or you can have both SAK and pliers in the form of SwissTool. The SwissTool Spirit has pliers and locking tools, and it's slightly lighter than Leatherman Wave/Charge.

Having carried Leatherman tools of one flavor or another in the past 5 years, I can't imagine an EDC setup without at least a pair of pliers. They really are handy.

I carry a Leatherman Charge everywhere alongside my main folder. I do have a SAK but it sits in my backpack that I usually have somewhere close by. I prefer multitools for the same reasons everyone else has mentioned but there is just something cool about having a good SAK around.

i carry a SAK vic Tinker and a leatherman skeletool, the tinker does food Prep, and the Skeletool takes the heavier jobs

i usually carry a SAK ranger and a leatherman juice in my bag, but if i could only have one it would be the juice,

Welcome to BF. I carry both, a Gerber MT and SAK Cybertool Lite. If I had to choose one, I carry a better MT (like a LM Charge).

Hi,

Much depends on what you do and how you want to do it. I often carry my Vic Soldier along with a Leatherman Kick. They are not exclusive. They compliment each other very well.

Never had a multitool but do have a few Victorinox knives.
In my opinion a multitool is much handier because it has pliers.

But most are much larger and don't fit nicely in a pocket like a sak will do.
So I would not EDC a multitool myself, with the exception of a key chain multitool like the Leatherman Squirt P4.

Carry a Victorinox Champion Plus alongside an EDC blade everyday.

Multitools are too heavy, and I dont like things that bulky hanging off my belt all the time.

I prefer the slimmer SAK's myself, two to three layers max. You can just slip in into a pocket instead of tying it to yourself with a belt, the actual knife blades on SAK's are better as they are thinner and cut things more easily (which is what a knife is supposed to do), the general public accepts Swiss Army Knives so you will get fewer looks, I believe SAK's are higher quality than the leatherman tools, they are much lighter, they are much cheaper, and unless you have the need for a large set of pliers often, they can do anything you would use a multi for. If a SAK can't handle it, you should be using real tools.

I carried a Leatherman Wave for about a year or two everyday and switched back to SAK's, I missed how comfortable they were to carry and use, they also cut better being that it is a knife with other tools, instead of a tool with a knife blade. I don't carry anything but a Classic in my pocket and a traditional
slip-joint in the other. Combine those with a flashlight and some ingenuity and thats all I need to get through the day.

My favorite SAK, the Tinker

i'm another sak fan, the multi tools i have used are always either too thick, too wide or too heavy for comfortable pocket carry (odd since i used to sometimes pocket carry a snub nosed colt lawman mk3 wich is bolth much bigger and heavier than any multitool).
If you use the pliers alot then go with that otherwise i'd pick the SAK
