SAK vs. Multi Pliers.

I carry a Vic Camper. If I have pants on I have the SAK on me. I didn't use the pliers enough to justify the weight of the multi. As it is, I could probably get by just fine with a two layer SAK like the cadet. YMMV

Though I own a lot of multis, I tend to carry SAKs, esp. the Vic Executive and Soldier. I generally can't justify the bulk of a multi as EDC when my job requires little of it. Although I have seen a Vic Spirit multitool at a store and think that might make the perfect multi. It seems less bulky while still having enough tools + the Vic quality.

I always have a Deluxe Tinker in my pocket. It offers almost as much functionality as my SwissTool X, but at half the weight.

I thought about buying a smaller pliers-based multitool (Leatherman Juice, SwissTool Spirit etc.) for EDC but the Deluxe Tinker is cheaper, lighter, and still good enough for most tasks.

To be honest I've not used the Deluxe Tinker anywhere other than at home yet (had it a few weeks now), so carrying a heavier multitool just doesn't make sense for me.

I prefer the SAK Explorer, as it fits in my pocket and has most of the things I "need".

Hello, I'm from Argentina and this is the first time in this forum. :)
What do your prefer for EDC ? SAK, like Champion, for exemple, or a Multi Plier?.
Sorry for my english. I can read very good, but write:thumbdn:, no much.

Regards..

Welcome to the Blade Forums. :)

I prefer to carry a SAK for traveling or Hiking.

But most of the time I have a Multi-Tool on me.

Id have to tell you to go with the multi tool. if you need a rugged and multi purpose tool get a leatherman wave. if you want something sleeker and sexier get the skeletool. either way youll be completley satisfied.

Never had a multitool but do have a few Victorinox knives.
In my opinion a multitool is much handier because it has pliers.

But most are much larger and don't fit nicely in a pocket like a sak will do.
So I would not EDC a multitool myself, with the exception of a key chain multitool like the Leatherman Squirt P4.

I've tried over a dozen SAK's and half a dozen multitools, including Gerber, SOG, Victorinox, Leatherman, and Buck.

I carry the Squirt P4 daily because it will do all the little things I need working on cars at an auto parts house - anything it can't handle, needs a bigger and better tool in the appropriate adult size - something the bigger multipliers still can't handle.
