I've dabbled in SAK's and have owned and had a few around for most of my life since high school. They are handy, but I prefer a real knife type knife. It's only once in a while I need a screw driver or can opener, but I need and use a knife at least once to a couple times a day. Since I have a tool kit at home, a small tool kit behind the sear of the truck, and a small tool kit in the glove box of the Vespa, I'm pretty covered. Even so, a few basic tools do come in handy. I find myself carrying a SAK now and then, but nothing more than a 58mm on my keyring. The SD tip of the Vic classic handles all small phillips screws as well as small flat screws. If I need a screw driver there's a Sear's keychain screw driver in my wallet, along with my old P-38. So far, they've done what had to be done with screws and cans. I really prefer to have a two blade jack in my pocket over a SAK. So far, I've never owned a Leatherman or any other plier type multutool, and don't plan on it. I can't recall any time in my life where I actually needed a plier and there wasn't one around. For beer bottles, I just use a Bic or my house key. One of the benefits of buying my son an expensive college education was his teaching me how to open a beer bottle with no opener when he came home at the end of his first semester.
I like SAK's, but just don't really need one bad enough to stop carrying a dedicated knife.
