+1 on an Alox Farmer... additionally, the awl opens on the end, and can actually be used

The awl is the perfect tool for using with a fire starter. Here's a video showcasing the Farmer...

I have a couple of trekkers, which I chose for the purpose you are talking about. I appreciate the length of saw & blade compared to the smaller models.
The excess tools don't weigh much, & have been useful occasionally.

I prefer the Trekker, but honestly, I think it is a little thick to carry in a pocket. Better to keep inside your pack or in a belt pouch. The two layer 110mm SAKs are about as heavy/thick as I go in the pocket.

I have a Trekker, it's a nice knife (tool), but agree it's large for pocket carry. Mine has been relegated to a small pack I keep in my pickup.

Oh yeah. I need to get one of those too. I have used a camper for ages now, it holds up well but if you want to use it harder get a farmer.

Bushcrafter would be a good choice if you want the minimalist approach. I have the Farmer and find it has the tools needed for working wood in the bush and a couple of tools that come in handy in the city as well, while maintaining a pretty compact package. I carry mine everyday.

I carry a Farmer myself and find it a great knife . That said , if you RAELLY don't want extra stuff on the knife then the Bushcrafter with it's blade , awl and saw would be perfect

that's why God gave us good teeth :D

I just shivered when I read this. My old buddy Steve used to take pride in opening beer bottles with his teeth, when we were youngsters. Then one time he took a chunk of his gum out.........:upset:
