I want Wenger or Victorinox to produce fixed blade knife of which blade is just standerd SAK model's main blade. It is best blade I know, if it were fixed, great knife.
I know Victorinox is producing kichin knives and some fixed blade knives, but it is not I discussing. I say standerd model's blade to fixrd blade.

And I think some famous folder's blade would be better if it were fixed.
French Opinel, Buck#110, Microtech SOCOM, and so on.

Great idea, Chic. I'd love to see a fixed blade sebenza and there has been talk about a production model of a fixed blade Wenger.

Why dost thou whet thy knife so earnestly?

Along with the SAK fixed blade, it would be nice if they introduced a knife that could be opened with one hand to their line-up as well. What kind of steel does Victorinox use? I find it sharpens easily and cuts well.

Good question. I always thought it was 440C but I have no idea why I thought that. The more I think about it, the more I realize I am probably wrong. Anyone out there know? Do all the SAK knives use the same steel?

I get some pleasure from finding a relentlessly peaceful use for a combative looking knife.

I think there was a limitd run of Buck 110's made in a fixed blade. It was designed to look exactly like the folder, only it was a full tang knife. It even had teh little notch milled into the back of the scales where you depress the backspring to unlock the knife. Do a search in the buck forum, I think thats where I saw it. Can't remember what the title was though.

I think they use 440A...I could be wrong, I just think I remember reading it somewhere. Whatever the steel they use, they do a good job with it. The knives are affordable, cut well, edge holding is not great, but its pretty good. I too wish they would make a fixed blade just using the standard main blade from thier folders. That would be an extremely affordable, good quality work knife.
