I did a Google search about this (knives in Ireland) and the hits were only about self defense knives - - not folding or multifunction knives.

I'll be traveling to Ireland soon and want to bring a SAK type knife along for basic utility purposes.

Is it legal to carry a SAK type knife in Ireland?

I'd also like to bring home an Irish knife or two as a souvenirs and would appreciate any suggestions.

Looking forward to your replies!

Make sure you know if they ban locking blades. They are combat knives of course !!!

They use modified UK knife rules. Just make sure blades are small and non-locking. 91 mm saks are fine everywhere in Europe.

It is just... so... damn... difficult to cut people without a lock on my knife!

OP here.

I used the 'Thank you' button on Tapatalk and have since learned that the interweb version of BF doesn't show the 'Thank you' from Tapatalk, so for the record, Thank you!

So this is what I'm understanding:

My SAK Hercules would be illegal to carry in Ireland because the main blade locks AND is over 91mm. (bummer) The Boker Plus Tech Tool (mine is an Outdoor 3) would be fine in Ireland because of the shorter blade length and non-locking properties.

Please confirm or correct.

Also, am I allowed to carry more than one 'legal' folding knife?

Thanks again,
Aldon

I would stick to a sak non locking blade with cutting edge less than three inch long,if for any reason you have to surrender it it's no great loss.

I carried an Explorer in my pocket in Ireland a few years ago. I picked it because it had a useful and practical tool set for a tourist, and it was thick enough to not look "scary".
It came in handy, never was noticed, and I had a wonderful trip. Gorgeous country full of very friendly folks.

Now I am wondering if you can get a production knife made in Ireland, and what kind they offer, like SA types or traditional pocket knives? Anyone have any Irish companies that make knives? examples?
