Opening canned food for lunch, opening alcoholic beverages, and opening stubborn envelopes and packages.

Mostly trail stuff when hiking: cutting paracord, whittling a tent peg, food prep, opening cans, cutting thread (when repairs are necessary).

Used mine to finish off a deer that we hit with the company truck. Sad that out of the five of us in the truck, I was the only one with a knife and all I had was a SAK Soldier. I love my Soldier, and I have a Ranger 51 on the way, looks like a nice knife.

does/did the swiss army actually issue SAKs?

I've got a SAK knockoff from the 99cent store, I'll upload the pics in a bit.

Wish they made thata trekker (I thinks thats the name, the black one) without the serrerated blade. Thats the only thing I don't like about it.

I use my Vic Farmer for just about everything. From opening robot controller panels at work, to whittling fuzz sticks while camping, food prep, opening cans, opening bottles, the list goes on and on...

Mostly holding my pockets down, but I like them for everyday chores around the house and shop.

I think the trekker recently has become available with a plain blade. Check out Smokey Mountain Knife Works.

Well to the best of my knowledge the only way to get plain edge OHTs is to sharpen the serrations off (which is easily done) or to buy one of the limited runs knives through Swissbianco (you will have to wait though as he just stopped taking orders for knives, probably a few months to a year).

My SAK get used for everything. Its utility to others, though, is best demonstrated when I solve wine-related crises.
