How is the P'kal selling if you don't mind me asking? I know many of us waited on pins and needles for it to come out and it seems like it's pretty available these days. Is it selling like expected?

Probably not. It's a very specialized model that only appeals to a very small demographic compared to the rest of knife users. The reason it looked so desired was because the people that wanted one were very vocal, and lots of people get caught up in the moment when Sal announces that he's going to make a knife based purely on the ELU's demands like that, and join in.

In reality, very few people have a use for a knife like that. I'm sure Sal knows that and made them in a limited number. I don't expect them to last more than a year or two.

I think it's really commendable that Sal goes out of the way to please even the minority in the knife community though, despite risking tons of money to do it.

that blade is weapon of self defense specifically made for martial artists.

You say that like it's a bad thing. And personally I prefer the word tool as opposed to weapon. Just a thought.

I dunno guys inverted wharncliffe, small tight package, exceptionally strong lock, seems intensely practical to me.

Hi Chambers,

It's selling about as expected. It's promoted mostly in our government shows. Response from the "agencies" is good.

I am glad it is selling as expected. Big props to you, Sal, for stepping up and being an innovator once again.

I wish knives like the Matriarch sold better so they were still in the catalogue.

Yes it is an excellent self defense knife ,and it is very well made for sure ,in true Spyderco fasion.
But it also is a great size for everyday carry & has not failed me for any regular task that you would want to use it for .
As stated earlier a very innovative knife, but also one that should be given a chance for edc.(only my humble opinion as i really like this Spyderco design)
regards,Rick.

its not a bad thing at all. i am a martial artist, so i know how the blade is supposed to be used. this blade is what it is. you can buy one and use it solely for opening gummy bear packages and letters if you want, but its sole purpose is to be a weapon.

Hey, I like gummy bears! What's wrong with opening those tasty little plastic packages? ;)
