Sal - Spyderco: Wharncliff ideas...

There were some pictures posted of a prototype or pre-prod or something over on the Spyderco forum. If I am not mistaken, Yojimbo is the Japanese word for bodyguard. It is basically a folding version of the Ronin, with blue G10 scales and a compression lock.

I would love it if Spyderco had this out in time for Xmas!

The Ronin is a fixed-blade knife with the same blade design as the Yojimbo, is available now, and has become a favorite of mine. Of course, in Texas fixed-blade knives are legal. Many others must have folders to be legal in their jurisdictions. I have handled a Yojimbo prototype, and I believe it will be a winner.

I am concerned that we have not had any type of official response. This could be good as not wanting to play a hand, or bad, that there is no interest.

I was really impressed with how many threads talked of Wharncliffes in the search site.

Hopefully, our manufacturer friends are listing?:D

As I have looked at most of the - 43 states so far - states allow 3 - 3.5 inches. Few areas allowing greater than 3.5 inches.

So - if someone is listening, how about a 3.0 - 3.5 inch blade!

Man, I liked that Snody knife!! thanks for it tc1!!:D :D :D

Wharncliffes - pass on the interest to Sal !

I would barf if someone else came out with a new line of knives with this blade style other than Spyderco.:barf: :barf:

Please help me bring this great blade shape to the forfront of peoples minds.

Got other ideas? Pictures??

peshkabz,

I'm not sure if I understand your post.

To clarify, Spyderco IS making a production version of the wharnie Yojimbo, which is the Snody/Janich knife you saw above.

It has a 3.0" blade.

It is probably one of the only (if not the only) production locking stabby Wharncliffes on the market.

From what I read, it doesn't seem like Spyderco has much interest in making any more plain edge Rescues, though.

See, I don't have a spyderco catelog, only what is on the website. I did not see this knife on the website catelog. So - of the hundred plus people who read this thread, are you the only one who knows about this knife, or are you the only one to let me in on the joke - me. I wondered why Sal had not answered my questions - he must have got a real kick out of me.

I do find it tough to keep up with all of the models, past and present. It would be nice if Spyderco would keep a listing of all present, and past knives available for sale.

I will look around the web, and see what I can find about the model you talked about.

Ok Sal and the rest of you - I got the joke now. No hard feelings.
Thanks biogon for limiting my wasted time.

nononono

hehehe

what i meant is, "Spyderco is currently in the development process of making this knife."

it is NOT yet released, but it is in development. only a small pre-production photo and a few specs have been leaked.

all of us here are sitting on pins and needles with our fingers, toes, legs, arms, and hair crossed until it comes out :)

that's why if you do a search on this forum, you'll see about 100000 people drooling maniacally for the yojimbo to finish in-house testing and be finally released, gosh darn it.

i myself post a question every month or so asking about its progress.

a rabid bunch we are. ;)

besides the limited editions, spydie's site is usually fairly up-to-date as to currently produced models.

Hi Peshkabz. Sorry for not responding. Often, others are faster and accurate in their info. The Janich/Snody Yojimbo is still in development, as mentioned. Outside of the forums (this and the site forum), I don't think anyone knows about the Yojimbo.

Ours will be blue G-10. S30V, nested compression lock, tip up carry.

Life is about learning. I am really looking forward to this knife and have just started saving my sheckles for it. Thanks again.:D
