I just picked up a J.D. Smith, very nice, very sharp!

I do have a couple of suggestions for this model. Since you went with a nice slim blade profile, the opening hole is small and hard to get to with your thumb. I would suggest some type of relief to give a little more access to the thumb hole. #2, possibly an adjustable pivot. Mine is very tight and so were some of the others I handled. The tight blade coupled with the small thumb hole make for a difficult one hand opener.

Just a reminder, think PlainEdge Merlin.

Thanks

I just handled a JD Smithy just a couple of hours ago at my dealers'. It too was quite tight. I commented about it and Frank said he sold one recently and the guy called him back to say it was loosening up just fine. Just needs a break-in period, I guess. Keep workin' it.

If it's stupid but works, then it isn't stupid.

I filed a relief in the scale to allow easier acces to the thumb hole (big improvement) and I lubed the pivot. It is getting better, but still very tight. I guess I'll just need to keep playing with it, oh darn!
