You guys need to make HUNTING KNIVES! Nothing too huge, just a nice slight curve, around 3", grippy handle (non-folder) with some decent steel for around $100-$150 with sheath.

Pretty PLEASE?!

I love the Bill Moran. I have a drop point Bill Moran and use it a lot.

If I were ever to go hunting again, and wanted to carry a Spyderco fixed blade, the Moran Drop Point would be my choice. If you can live with the tacticool black blade, there's also the Street Beat Lightweight.

Mules, hands down. Sheaths are really not tough to make. I would love to take a Moran with improved steel (S110V) and a rounded choil...but I'd settle for K390

Moran is excellent knife, make it in s30v.Make fixed chinook ,vest pocket bowie with g10 or micarta handle and s30v or even better some tool steel!

Hi Exracr,

What do you consider a "decent" steel?

Well, I'm sure a few folks would shout/yell M4 or S110V or a Japanese steel... :P Something that wont rust easily. Most hunting knives get tossed in hunting packs, and left there for months at a time quit honestly. Keep it to a slightly sweeping edge with a choils on top for your thumb to push cut, a finger guard, not a flipper (too hard to clean), and bright G-10 handle with a big lanyard loop.

But honestly, I think Spyderco would obviously pick the steel vs $$ aspect. But as long as its better than 440.... I'm betting it would sell! :) I'm not talking a $300 knife that will never see the field, and sit on a shelf... But just the opposite! Something that's affordable to the average person who's got most his $$ in his weapon, and just hopes to enjoy the experience of hunting, and the the bounty of an ethical kill.

Maybe 390? I'm no steel expert... you guys are. Hence why I'm sure you better at picking it that I am.

I agree with the OP. Benchmade makes great fixed blade hunting knives with G-10 or stablized wood scales for around $150. Why doesn't Spyderco? They would sell well.

Moran or Enuff Clip point should work well. Unless the hide is really filled with sand/dirt I don't find butchering hard on my knife edges at all. I use customs in S35VN for hunting, but VG10 would work great as well.

Serrata should work great too, seen quite a few deals on them as well.
