Anyone able to proxy for the 5:00 sale - boarding a plane in 15 minutes - thanks for any help!
 
I've made a decision that going forward, I will NOT proxy for unpaid members who are also very infrequent visitors / contributors and I encourage the other well meaning forumites to also rethink their benevolence when it comes to getting a CPK into everyone's hands so that end users get these fab knives at cost rather than at somewhat 2ndary pricing (I have no problems with a free market and I'm not one of those constant restrictive activists!). While I have no vested interest in the financial gains of a membership and while I do not shill for the ownership, I just do not think that is cool specially when we constantly encourage ponying up for a membership and subsequently get ignored!

What brought this decision about was finding out that yesterday was the 20th BD of Blade Forums and that the staff on BFC are unpaid staff members (I knew this prior). If those described above don't think that an added $10-$30 to the cost of their knife alone is not worth it for them, then I for one will not pass on my spot to such.

This decision does not extend to those whom I know of and just happen to have had a lapse in their membership dues, plus one more gent... Ah! hmmm? Who was this again? Yeah, @Lorien :D :p :D

Just to be clear, are you also saying that, if you participate in a sale just for fun, say, or maybe the person you were going to proxy for already got a secure spot, your comment will read “pass down to the next paying BF member”?

ETA: I’m fine with that, too

I often speed test myself to keep up my fingers' muscle memory for the all crucial upcoming UF sales sometimes in the near future :)

Sometimes, I make a mental note of whoever was asking for a proxy and in the past I've either assigned my spot to those folks or just relinquished my opportunity by passing it down the line. I have no control over what others do with their spots, but to be clear I will no longer proxy for unpaid and unknown members who just show up asking for a proxy. I encourage others to do the same but ultimately it's really up to the winners as to how to allocate those spots with Nathan's sanction.
 
Is anyone able to proxy for me tomorrow for the HDFK knives? I’m likely going to be in a meeting during the offering.
