I'm pretty sure all Salsas were manufactured in Taiwan. But, as Stevekt notes, Spyderco's quality control is very exacting regardless of where a knife if produced (as many of us have learned with the Byrd line).
The Salsa became my favorite EDC as soon as I bought my first one... Now I own two and each one gets more pocket time than my CF/ZDP Caly III.
Spyderco is pretty good about finding makers who can make what he needs while providing the quality he demands. There are cases where a maker wasn't able to perform the task required, so Spyderco held onto the design until technology or more capable makers were available. The Spydewrench followed that scenario.
