Well I've been reading good reports about this knife. That said it will fit my needs for a "dive" knife. That said I did read some discussion on the blade styles, plain edge verse's serrated. The comments made were that the latter was harder to sharpen? Can anyone add some personal experience with respect to the blade style and shape? Thanks. I'm looking for some comments from someone with respect to a "diving" background or environment.Thats not to say that if you have something to add feel free to do so.

I found that the serrations are time consuming when trying to sharpen and you just do not get it the same as it was before sharpness wise and shape of serrations. I use the lansky stone designed for spyderco serrations. But I have to add that the serrations do not go dull very easily. If you are looking to use the knive as a hard-cutter like netting or tubes etc I prefer the serrations.

Whichever you prefer, however, I would not feel comfortable with a folder as a primary dive knife.

Well I kinda agree, but I'm having a hard time finding something that would be suitable. If you have a model or make that you prefer I'd love to hear about it.

Serrated edges aren't very difficult to sharpn IMHO. It does however depend on your personal ability to sharpen. One factor that may come into play is that because serrated edges can stay sharp or at least effective longer than plain edges, people might wait longer to sharpen them, thus taking longer to bring the edges back. The actual technique isn't very difficult at all as far as I'm concerned.

Yes, thats what I was referring to the new Spyderco H1 dive knives. Much better choice if you plan on going SCUBA diving with them. I believe the name of the new H1 FB is the Aqua Salt.

Ah. Found them. Thanks, J85909266. The utility in H1 is nice, but the DIVE models -- THAT is what we're talkin' about. Specifically, the blunt tip versions. Yes, two of those (one for me, one for my SO), and an H1 Rescue 79, are in my future.

A request to Sal: any chance of us seeing the Rescue in safety orange? And any chance that the plastic or micarta on the dive knife could be yellow?
