titanium is non-ferous, so it won't rust.
Also, there is no such thing as rust-proof steel. Those fancy japanese steels are just more rust resistant, although they are billed as impervious to rust because of the whole nitrogen/carbon thing.
It's not the H1 I was worried about, it is the other metals like the clip and screws that I was worried about. They have a black coating that I am sure is fine, but what about the metals under the coating.
Tazkristi answered my questions thanks.![]()
Heres a polished clip on my Salt

A few years back someone, I don't remember who, did absolutely everything he could think of to try and rust one of the Salt series knives. After wrapping the blade in copper, dumping it in salt water and introducing electricity didn't work, he tried caustic chemicals. All that accomplished was harm to the scales.
Maybe someone remembers and can provide a link to the test as he tried more than just the above but, plain and simple, H1 is not going to rust.
that was Frank(and some letter here)
Believe the one thing, aside from iron, that makes steel steel is carbon. Wikipedia defines it as follows: "Steel is an alloy consisting mostly of iron, with a carbon content between 0.2% and 2.14% by weight". H-1 only contains .15% carbon, so technically it's not steel. But apropos of nothing, technically why isn't the H1 a "steel"? What is it then? Steel is iron coupled with various dopants (carbon, nitrogen, vanadium, chromium, molybdenum, et al) added to it.
Okay, so it's "iron alloy" instead of "steel".Believe the one thing, aside from iron, that makes steel steel is carbon. I second that with total agreement.:thumbup:My Pacific has yet to rust, and I get mean...constantly swimming in Lake Erie, sweating on my lifting days and during aerobic activity, diving in the Atlantic Ocean and Gulf of Mexico...the thing is absolutely impervious, including the clip. My coating seems to be sticking better than any other production clip I have, but the slightly exposed parts are still beautiful natural titanium sans corrosion.
The entire knife really is rustproof...FRN, titanium, H1. It's such a beautiful thing.![]()
