SALT obsessed! What’s your favorite?

So I kinda have a Salt obsession.
I spend a lot of summer in a kayak, fishing & camping. I’ve had tool steel knives get rusty on moist backpacking trips, so I love having gear I don’t worry about.
Something I can use at home, for whatever, then rinse off and forget is pretty cool too.

This is what I’m up to now, and I’ll probably add a murdered out Military Salt at some point.

The Pac Salt SE is still my favorite, and #1 knife for the boat. I’m on my third edition, as a few have met a watery demise. I’m on N5 #2 for the same reason. The Tazman’s typically live in my PFD’s. The UKPKs are backup knives for the tackle bags.

What SALTs do you have, and what’s your favorite?

I have zero Salt models! GADZOOKS!

Now that they're Magnacutting them, they are certainly more appealing . . . hmmm . . . a Salt Police 4 in Magnacut would get my attention.

Over on the Spyderco Forum Sal is hinting that Magnacut might be headed to Japan, so a Police is definitely possible at some point!

Given the steel’s toughness, I’m dying for an outdoor fixed blade like a re-issue South Fork <drool> or a Temperance.

My favorite is the Caribbean Sheepsfoot SE (now discontinued). It is also my favorite SE knife. The serrations are perfect (short and shallow). It is extremely slicy, almost as slicey as a PE. But it can also rip thru tough material when necessary.

I don't know if these are technically Salt models or not, but they use LC200N and H1, respectively. So they are definitely Salt-worthy. The Subway Bowie is a near perfect boot knife with an Ulti-Clip on the sheath.

What do you consider a "Salt" model?

Anything with the word "Salt" in its name or anything made with H1, LC200N or Magnacut blade steel?

If the former, I own none. If the latter, I own many &, of those, the Waterway is my favorite because it the only Spydie in my collection that I actually use.

I use it in the kitchen as a boning knife.

That sheepsfoot Caribbean SE is one that always tempted me, and looks like a beast of a knife for marine use, or when you need the power of serrations for a messy task! I’m surprised they discoed the SE. I guess it wasn’t selling?
I didn’t know they made a little Subway in LC200N! Super cool!

Anything from the SALT series, or with “marine grade” steel (H1/H2 etc.) so the Waterway is definitely is a SALT knife, like the Jumpmaster, etc.

Incidentally, I’d own a Jumpmaster for diving, but I find a chisel tip more practical for a dive tool.

The Salt series is a well to which I keep returning.

Favorite and most carried in general, the Para 3 Salt. Love everything about this one.

For outdoorsy stuff, the Pacific Salt steps in. This one's been on a good number of hiking and camping trips.

I don't dive but I own both variants of the Jumpmaster.😉

Haven't looked at/touched them for awhile. Pretty sure that I have the leg strap holster for them too.

This might be a be a good time to take them out for pics. 📷

Just gotta get up the energy to search thru the boxes to find them. 🤷‍♂️

My favs are :
The Para 3 Black blade Black Caribbean handle Magnacut plain edge .
and
The Black on Black Salt 2 H2 Serrated ((though I like that Volcano texture shown above in the Pacific Salt the best for FRN)) . (the Salt 2 SIZE is much better for me ) .

I had an og pacific salt and the plain edge H1 was just too soft for me. Liking my military 2 salt in magnacut but I put awt scales on it, did not like the feel of that salt pattern g10.

Somewhere I have an old Spyder Edge Rescue model. It looks like a Salt series knife because of the yellow FRN handle, but the steel is AUS8A (I think). While technically a stainless steel, I've rusted the crap out of AUS8A blades just from summertime pocket humidity and failure to do a daily wipe-down. So let's call that knife "Salt Series Adjacent."

I like them :) I have a Ladybug somewhere... My first was a Tasman Salt that is kicking around in the warehouse. My beach knife is a serrated ARK. I also have a Stretch that I took apart to clean...and cannot get back together AND lost a screw in the process:mad:

I may pick up one of the green handled models at some point now that they are in Magnacut. The H series blades don't rust, but they aren't the greatest performers either.
