Salt water folder?

Just wanted to give y'all an update. I got my H1 in yesterday and I am very pleased with it! Liked it a lot more than I thought I would!

A couple of small gripes though. While very thin, it is also very wide... which I'm sure is the nature if the beast with Spydercos and will just take some getting used to.

The other gripe I believe to be a quality control issue that is probably an isolated incident. If you look at the edge near the ricasso, it is very shallow compared to the rest of the blade... seems like it was taken off the grinder too soon. Anyone else had this issue?

Ill post a pic shortly... for some reason I can't get it to load with my phone

Is the edge the same angle there? If not, it may have been broadened there as it was taken off the grinder. If it's the same, then see my last sentence only for the primary grind rather than the edge. Shouldn't create any problem in actual use though.

It appears to be the same angle and as you said, it won't effect usage... just didn't expect that from such a reputable company. No biggy though, still love the knife and as I said before, I'm sure its a very isolated incident.

I think I may call their Warranty Department so they are at least aware of it... not to bitch. Might be an issue that they would like to document... in case its happened more than a few times.

On a slight thread drift, perhaps, but has ANYBODY here had any problem at all with rust on VG-10 steel? I ask because I have had Spyderco Salt lust for some months now, but can't quite bring myself to order a knife largely redundant with my Delica and Enduras when I have never had a single issue with rust on VG-10.

I have bought a couple used Victorinox's that needed some sanding/buffing to get rid of slight rust. But never on VG-10, which I understand to be a pretty rust resistant stainless to begin with.

My VG-10 Delica developed spots of light rust when I had it in my waistband while walking on a Florida beach, no actual contact with the water. Even humidity around salt water can cause rust spots, you don't believe it until you see it.

Actually, being of limited self-control, I've ordered a Pacific Salt SE today because I found a new one for about $15 less than most other sellers. I already own a Spyderhawk in H1 (PE). I wanted to try this much lauded SE in H1.

The crazy thing is I live in North Texas. Exposure to fresh water and sweat is a real threat to my blades, but not salt water. So I probably "need" H1 steel like a fish needs a bicycle. However, this might make a good leave-in-the-car-console knife, workout knife (although it's a bit big) or fishing.

Actually, I'd like a Dragonfly SE in H1 or a Salt 1. Then I might actually carry a knife while swimming or working out.

I've known more than one person whose sweat was more caustic than sea water. I'm sure H1 steel would be useful in this situation as well.
