Bladeforums: this is someone who has an awesome Mom.Haha! Okay, this is funny. That's my Mom's knife, no joke. She's logged over 10k hours and found during a dive years ago.
H2 has replaced H1 steel, but Sal Gkesser says that it should perform almost exactly the same. Used H1 are better deals, however. So I decided to go with one of Spyderco "salt" folders...
Now questions are:
H1 steel or H2 steel?
Plain edge or serrated edge?
Sal has mentioned on the Spyderco forums that under testing Salt serrated (H1 or H2) has better edge retention than most super steels in plain edge!So I decided to go with one of Spyderco "salt" folders...

I'd say go for LC200N and serrated because I'm partial to my Pacific Salt 2. Some people seem to have great experience with H1 serrated knives, but I couldn't tell you.So I decided to go with one of Spyderco "salt" folders...

That has not been true in my use. My serrated H1 dull the same as plain edge. The serrated edge is much thinner BTE, so it cuts better for longer.Sal has mentioned on the Spyderco forums that under testing Salt serrated (H1 or H2) has better edge retention than most super steels in plain edge!
Great choice! Serrated for sure.So I decided to go with one of Spyderco "salt" folders...

But I found it. And I decided to go with plain edge H1 salt.H1 is hard to find these days.
With this. I thought LCN was the upgrade. But I found it. And I decided to go with plain edge H1 salt.
MagnaCut is way too expensive, and I just need to cut a shellfish or two, and similar things, I don't need crazy edge retention for my needs, and H1 has plenty of toughness, and I can get it sharp anywhere.
Plus, H1 is discontinued, so I wanna get it while I still can.
