Saltwater sucks!

Break Free is an awesome product but it sucks at stopping rust compared to other products which do it a bazillion times better.

Use Eezox (or Corrosion X) and you will never have this issue again. A single coating of Eezox can last months and, in some cases, years.

Last time I was here in Fl. I had my S30v Blur and had no issues that I rember.

I have a Spyderco H1 and have used it in salt water and it held up very well, No rust or problems! I was thinking about taking a 12c27 stainless Mora with me on a fishing trip in the gulf. Does anyone know if 12c27 can withstand saltwater? Can anyone point me in a direction of actual testing of 12c27 in saltwater? Has anyone ever scuba dived, sailed, or fished with a Mora stanless in saltwater?

I'd suggest that you just stick with the H1 Spyderco, you know for sure that it won't rust so why take the chance? I have been using my Tasman Salt in H1 in lake and pool water extensively the last couple months and never bother to wash it with fresh water after, it has ZERO corrosion of any kind. One of the cool things about the Salt knives is that they also have rust resistant hardware. They don't use washers (at all), the clip is titanium (which doesn't rust) and the screws are either H1 or somehow treated to resist rust (I have heard both, not sure which is correct).

They make a Salt series knife for pretty much anything, they aren't cheap but they are totally worth it, especially serrated ones.

John,

I agree H1 spyde is the best and it will most likely go with me! I was simply interested because I wanted to take a fix blade with me as well.. My Mora is my go to fix blade and its in stainless, I have used it before while fishing but only fresh water. Salt water is hell on Knives so I was just curious if any one had experimented on stainless Mora's yet? I really wish i had the $$$$ to get a all H1 Fix blade spyder

I am almost 100% sure everything besides the blade and clip are treated.

For fixed blade H1, you can also look at the G Sakai knives from Seki City, Japan. They make a bunch of fixed blade models in H1. I'm headed to Florida myself soon for some spearfishing, and surf fishing. A week in the salt. I'm taking a bag full of knives to test corrosion but will use the Spyderco Atlantic Salt and the G. Sakai Sebi 1 knife as my folder and fixed blade daily while fishing. My son will be using the Spyderco Enuff in H1 and my Benchmade 111H2O in N680 steel. I'll also take an old Benchmade 100SH2O in T.N.15 steel.
