I don't know really how to start this thread.

All I can say is that Sam has done something that I have never seen done before. This Belgian maker has everyone that has heard this story touched and amazed.

In a world that is so driven by coin this incredible young man has made a statement that has touched everyone involved beyond words.

Sam has given away his much in demand JS knives. Yes you heard me correct, he has given away something that he has painstakingly agonized over and poured himself into to a group of friends to show gratitude for there support. If he only new how all of us cherish his friendship even though we can't understand a word he is saying :)

Sam speaks from the heart and that we all understand and open ours back to him.

The lucky group that has received this generous gift are as follow

Joe Richardson
Roger Pinnock
Ryan Hays
Jeff Laramee
Joe Paranee
&
None other than the great one
Jason Knight

His five JS knives and the back up were gifted to all and believe me when I say none of us had an idea that this was going to happen

Last week after receiving the pics from him to post I sent him an email inquiring about price. I never got an answer , and now I know why.

Sam I am sure each and every one of us is going to chime in but I would like to be the first to say THANK YOU

You have blown me away and touched me in a way I am having difficulty finding words for.

Thank You My Friend, I am forever in your debt and I will always be here to support you and I am so very proud to call you a friend.

On a side note the group of guys that Sam travels with are just as talented and wonderful as he and my heart and home are always open to them.

Also as I have learned about Sam I have found out that although Sam has a love of steel like no other his first love is training and working with dogs. I am a dog person and I truly believe that animal people are special people and this kindred spirit is what truly bonds us together

Many pics to come from all involved

The only person that is missing is Roger, we all wish you could have been here my friend

Ryan and I have sponsored Sam and he is now a CKCA member and I am excited to welcome him to the organization

So cool!

I can't tell you how neat that is. It is like Christmas and your birthday rolled into one.

Those knives are fantastic, each and every one!

That is a BIG amount of time, skill, effort, expertise, and yes, cash to give away!

What a gesture! Congrats on the Award and JS stamp MS is a dagger away by the looks of this body of work

That is a super cool story about friendship and generosity. The only thing I would add is that karma has it's place here too: that is good things happen to good people.

Too Cool! An action that all of you and those of us that read about it will never forget.

Great group shot.

An unbelievably generous and truly touching gesture that I'm sure none of us will ever forget. Joe - please give Sam a big bear hug for me. Man, Ryan's knife really says "Ryan" doesn't it?

Congrats guys! Sam is very generous, he has sponsored the dutch knife exhibition with custom knives for the lottory many times. Just because he wants to.

He is a cool guy.

I believe it..but
UNBELIEVABLE ! :)
Congratulations to everyone !

You are all winners. But from the photos, the two guys in the front got the short end of the blade. :) Congratulations to all and especially Sam.

That's awesome!! Sam is really a generous and VERY talented man and maker!!

Joe, if you ever want to pass that Hurak along I'll gladly triple your $$ paid. Ha. :)

What a great jesture. I'm sure it was a great suprise! Great karma Sam!Well done and congrats on the awards.
Cheers Keith

Sam is a wonderful and generous person who deserves all the accolades he is receiving. To cross the ocean and subject himself to such scrutiny in such a graceful way is very impressive, especially given the language barrier. I look forward to seeing much more of his work in the future.

Just returning after a long road trip back from Atlanta today, but want to pipe in on this great gesture of friendship shown by Sam over the weekend. When the JS judging was over and Sam had recieved a thumbs up, he invited a few of us that were there down to the food court for a cup of expresso provided by Sam in celebration. Fredrick came over with Sam at my end of the table and want to convey something to me. I first took it as when Sam leaves Atlanta this year, he would like to work on a gift knife for some of his supportive friends to show his appreciation for their backing and friendship, thinking this would happen between now and Atlanta next year. And Fredrick said, Sam does not want anyone to even discuss money! I was somewhat confused. Then, when Sam brought a knife case over and laid it on the table, it hit me that he was speaking of his JS test knives! I was to relay the message to the others.

When Sam delivered a bowie to me at his first Blade Show in 2011, I told him immediately that I wanted my name on a JS knife. It has been a great adventure and relationship with Sam since that time, and as you have heard from Joe, Sam has a heart of gold that he speaks from and he is a true friend. On the forums, we talk as a group all of the time on how the show is more about the friends and the community than it is the knives, and this is a solid example of that.

Ryan came down to our end of the table, and I tried to explain it to him (before I fully had it figured out), and when we got Sam's gesture straight, and both had a test knife in hand, we were totally blown away!!

Congratulations Sam on your JS test and Peck Award. Here's to more years of sharp times together.

I will try to add some pictures, but it will have to be later. Thanks for posting this up Joe P! Great times.
