Samuel Bell Bowie, by Harvey Dean, MS. Engraving by Steve Dunn, MS

a collector was not happy whith that piece? very interesting. it is a wonderful piece of art and well photographed also. thoroughly enjoyed looking at it. would love to handle it in person too. I can dream!!

I had the pleasure of doing the engraving on Harvey's, Sam Bell Bowie. Harvey sent me the knife in parts, so it would be easier for me to hold while engraving. I work under a microscope, and it allowed me to examine the parts thoroughly. Fit and finish was second to none, and I don't think the parts could have been put together better, by human hands! In my opinion, Harvey is the Antique Bowie Knife "Man"! He nails it every time.
Blade, 9", overall 13 7/8. Steve Woods, of Steven Micheal Studios, did the photography work, simply awesome. Steve is a up and coming maker doing some great work himself.
As far as the Collector not liking the knife, well, it was simply a case of "shallow pockets" on his part.

Wish I had the extra money, the Bell would be in my collection!

Thanks for the info.

I hope Harvey didn't have any problem finding a home for this baby...

Hey Guys I just want to add a few words to this post . My name is Steve Woods I'm the photographer who had the privilege of photographing Harvey's knife. I think it is one of the finest knives that has ever come into my studio. Harvey told me about this knife he was making. Well- words can't explain what he made . That's where I came in I helped Harvey bring this knife to life for all the knife collectors to drool over. Thanks for the kind words of my work ,but I did nothing but shoot a world class knife......Thewoodman

Excellent knife. I really like that style. I've played with a similar knife by Jim Batson, and was surprised how light and lively it was in the hand.

Where was it for sale?

Wow, great craftmanship by everyone. That handle is unreal, I can't imagine how long this one must have taken to complete. Love the engraving and photos too. Good job guys!

ptgdvc, you should show this one to your wife, if you're a good boy and a little bit lucky, maybe she'll buy it for you? One thing is sure though, this one would feel right at home along with the rest of your Dean beauties. :D
