Has anyone ever bought knives from samyknife. I know they sell knockoffs but I wouldn't mind owning a few to use as beaters. they take paypal which makes me feel a little better but you have to be careful with these sites. I made the bad mistake from buying from aliexpress.com a long time ago and it didn't go well.

Personally I wouldn't.

Oh and people around here (me included) kinda frown at buying knock offs..........

I agree that stealing ideas is wrong but we aren't talking about $50 dollars. We are talking about $750 dollars. I look at the knock off as a way to inspect the real version and see if its worth it. Lets be honest $800 dollars is a ton of money. It took me a full year to save up for a crk knife. If I can have a good knife off of a great design with a lesser steal what's wrong with that?

It's your choice man.

I think that if your gonna buy the real thing afterward no problem....

Why get a ripoff for a beater? Why not get a cheap knife from Kershaw, Spyderco, etc to use as a beater?

Flame wars are everywhere today on this and related topics. You shouldn't have even mentioned the word knockoffs. You should have left it as "is X trustworthy" I feel as though you may have been trying to start an argument much like the one going on about NutNPanties.

Why does it matter how much the original knife costs, your not going to get the same materials or quality of work from the fake so how can you evaluate the real deal buy buying a fake.

You are supporting thieves anyway you want to justify it that is what you are doing.

That is quite possibly the most absurd thing I've ever read. You are comparing a knock off to a real custom or midtech to get an idea for what quality is? It's not the same thing at all. People should just buy what they can afford comfortably. Your logic doesn't make much sense, but to each their own.

That is a stupid statement if he is referring to quality, which he is kind of, by saying to "see if its worth it". A better explanation would be, to see how it feels in the hand. I do not know which knife you are talking about, but if it is a blatant rip off, at least the ergo's should be the same. You still have the fact that its going to be a different weight, and usually thinner anyways though. So that point is only half reasonable.

I usually give the new comers the benefit of the doubt when it comes to intentionally starting an emotionally sensitive thread. When I was new to knives, and did not have a passion for it, I don't think I felt as strongly against rip offs as I do now. We should give noobs some leeway and try to school them.

Listen to these guys.

So I should just buy golden colorado, taichung taiwan, and china spyderco knives. I would love to experience a true custom but I can't afford $800 dollars for a knife. Yes the price is that high because of the quality. And it is also that high due to demand. But you are judging the knockoff on the mere fact that it is a knockoff and not the quality. You are judging it on the fact that the design is stolen. But yet it is a great design with a lesser but solid steal. I again say I don't agree with someone stealing a design but if it is available and it is the only way for me to experience it then how is it affecting the high end market of which you are a part of? I will never buy or be able to afford a $800 dollar knife. In the end this is a stolen design with a good steal. It is available for a fraction of the price and why should I stand by and watch others take part?

New thought, could you just go away?

So you admit they are thieves, but can't understand why buying from them is not OK, and because others are buying them that makes it even more ethical for you to take part. If people like you were to stop buying from these thieves then they wouldn't be doing it.

I'll put it this way, someone breaks into your home steals your things and openly sells it to people as stolen goods. Now basicly you would only have a problem with the person selling your possessions not the people buying known stolen items. Or would you only have a problem with the first guy who bought something and the rest would be exempt because they were just following his lead?

That's a good point. The fact is these knives are showing in more and more places. And you can bet money that due to nutn's video there will be a even bigger presence. I wouldn't be surprised to see these knives in stores like lowe's or home depot. I have never bought a knockoff and don't plan on it. But in my collecting years this is the first time I have looked at a site like Samyknife.com and it is tempting. Thankyou all for your feedback. Remember this site was made to tackle the tough subjects like these and I have enjoyed the back and forth. In conclusion, I won't be buying anything from samyknife but I will watching the prices. And if the prices start to go up then we both know what is happening.
