Unfortunately, I just can't stand Burt Foster OR Bill Wiggins... Good Lord, could you imagine the BOTH OF THEM in one room???

I knew Jason didn't like me, but gosh Nick, I thought we were friends.:jerkit:

Back to the topic. Brian, what grade stainless did you use?

Bill,

I can see why you can't stand Bill Wiggins, you are with him all the time.

Don't feel too bad, I still like you. Maybe it's because I live 900 miles away and only have to see you a couple of times per year.

The only thing worse than Burt and Bill in one room would be if Nick Wheeler was who they were talking to.

I agree!!! And the only way to make that worse, is if the three of them were talking about Jason Knight.

Oh wait... that did happen... in San Antonio, Texas. Hmmm...

Oh shoot, I thought we were talking about Burt Wiggins and Bill Foster. I HATE those two!!!

Brian... your post has me really wanting to try this. If only I wasn't like 12 years behind with a couple of knives! lol/crying ;) :)

Thanks again for sharing, and my apologies for the thread drift. It was a necessary evil though ;)

Nick No apologies needed. In todays up tight world, a little joking helps keep the place sane.

Bill I used 316 stainless.

Thanks to everyone else for the comments

Brian

Pretty neat, Brian! Classic shape, too.

...who the hell is Nick Wheeler?

Hello all.

I would like to share with you my latest creation. This is a San Mai blade that I made of stainless steel and 1095. After seeing Bill wiggins do this in Troy Ohio at the ABS hammer - in, I knew it was something I had to try. It was weeks before time would allow me to do so and during that time, I put a lot of thought into how I wanted this to turn out.

My biggest change to what Bill showed, is that I also made most of my spine stainless to offer even more protection. I have not seen a blade constructed like this - with a stainless spine -and I would like to think that I am the first, but I am sure someone else has already done it. :o

I invite you to go here for some more photos and info on this knife. http://www.mepotelco.net/web/tknives/sale.htm

4 1/2" blade of stainless and 1095. 8 7/8" over all. Stabilized maple handle.

Thanks for looking and comments are welcome - good or bad.

This is actually san mai ( " three layers " ) in japanese style, better than Cold steel and Fallkniven. I have very bad experience with edge holding on 1095 steel on 57 hrc. If You can use it some of new powdered steels for core that ( possible ) will dramatically improve toughness and cutting ability. This is what need ZT 0100.
Hardcore! This is what I like!

Cabala's recept:

CPM3V core between two layers of ATS- 34! All on 58 Hrc!
