I forged this one from san mai. The core steel is 1084 and the sandwich layers are high nickel and low carbon steel. I like the sleek lines of the guardless knives, and will probably be making more of them soon.

The handle is stabilized redwood burl. It was professionally stabilized and has really nice figure to it. It was sculpted and shaped to fit the hand well. It is really comfortable to hold.

The sheath is 8-9oz leather from Wickett and Craig. It was hand tooled and the knife fits snugly.

Blade - 4 1/4" tip to guard
OAL - 8 7/8"

That would be a prime sample of redwood burl right there...

I'm a big fan of guardless also, but can never seem to get together enough courage to lose the guard.
 
Gorgeous knife and one of the most beautiful pieces of redwood I have ever seen.
