I had a CS SRK in AUS8 that I gave to my twelve year old son. It did not hold out for me,it lost its edge, dented and rolled very easy which I found disapointing with all the advertising hype. I later picked up the CS Master Hunter in San Mia VG1 and have had no problems with heavy use. As for the lamination,I do not know enough to put up an argument but my laminated VG10 Falknivens are hard to beat.

VG-1 and VG10 are two different types of steel?

That's a really nice Recon Tanto MrTroubleSnake. With all due respect may I ask how an ROK Marine learned to speak and type such perfect conversational (American) english, with all of the small slang and internet abbreviations added?
Hello CZIV, i was born in chicago and when i was a little boy i moved to South Korea. When i moved, it was mandatory for my parents to put my name on the list for mandatory draft. All South Korean males must serve 2 years mandatory ROK Army. Well i moved back to the states when i was 6 years old, i tried to enlist in the USMC when i was 18 years old but they denied me because of my record. but i really wanted to be a Marine, and my Father being a ROK Marine himself told me why not represent your own country..... So Im a ROK Marine.

That's a cool story! I'm a former Marine so "Semper Fi" MrTroubleSnake!!

Hey BF, just traded one of my aus 8 steel knife for a san mai blade. My friend told me he wasnt a fan of the san mai so we traded. i think i got the better end of the deal. This san mai is some serious steel, BTW im trying to upload the picture but i dont know how would somebody please help me? Does anybody here own any san mai blades?

I'd say you got the better end of that deal by about 40 bucks at least! Recon Tanto in SM3 is a beautiful, well made knife IMO

If it's true, it's the nature of the laminated steel. I seem to remember the Falkniven knife doing well on knifetests.com, resisted breaking IIRC.

+1 For this Gator.

If you don't know what was meant by "some serious steel" your either seriously stupid or seriously ignorant.

Well then I must be, because I have no idea of this "serious" scale of which you speak.

And by the way, its "you're." :)

I'm curious, have you ever posted on BF something that wasn't sarcastic/snarky/argumentative? Like explaining something to someone in simple words(when they dunno, or misunderstand)...

OK. I believe the relevant definitions of "real" from Mirriam-Webster's Dictionary are “occurring or existing in actuality” or “existing as a physical identity.” So, in the end, I do agree wholeheartedly with MrSnake's conclusion that SanMai III is real. MrSnake is 110% on the money.

As far as "badass," I'm gonna have to wait until the lab comes up with some numbers.

All that said, MrSnake I am glad to hear you enjoy your knife. Enjoy your deanimation.

How about participating here without hurling personal insults.

Make you point without getting personal. These childish actions are not acceptable.

Aye, matey. Let's give the deckhands a chance to beat on the knives instead of on each other. Or we can sink this barge.

I would not even compare the two
Although I have had no problems with VG1. Based on past experience with CS and not knowing enough about the limits of their steel keeps me from having the faith I have in Fallkniven San Mia. I would welcome any information on VG1 that may give me more piece of mind. thanks

I may be wrong, but there's no such thing as Fallkniven San Mai. They use a laminate, but San Mai is Cold Steel's proprietary name for their laminate. It's like saying "Case's Carbon V."
