Blade Steel: 1084 & 15N20

Handle: Jack Daniels Whiskey Barrel Oak

Sheath: Brown Vegetable Tanned Leather

Blade Length: 3.75”

Overall Length: 7.5”

Price with insured U.S. domestic shipping SOLD

Forged this out using nickel alloy and high carbon steels. Handle is made from the top of an old barrel from the Jack Daniels distillery, wish I could have left some of the charring and whiskey smell, but it has character none-the-less. Sheath is just a simple veg tanned leather sheath with belt loop. Total weight including sheath is 6.35oz. Thanks for looking.

Very classic looking.

Thank you. That's been my general goal over the past few years. I typically start with nice defined bevels from forging and my rough grinds, then soften them up or erase them all together as the blade progresses. I like to put a patina look on the blade and use multiple acid baths and light sanding with various grits until I get the look I'm going for. I really get a kick out of putting a blade that I finished the day before out on my table at a show and someone walks by and asks me how old it is. I always tell people I want my knives to look like your grandfather trusted it & took care of it for 50 years before handing it on to you. I just remember as a young boy going through my pap's hunting knife collection at our cabin and just being fascinated with the old fixed blade knives he had amassed over the years - each one put through the test, sharpened to the point of altering the original blade shape and each having this feel of just being broken in. He's been gone near 25 years now, but he started a childs fascination that became an adults obsession. :)
