I've been looking for a regular profile large blade as this knife came with a severely resharpened blade.
Ran across this sand blasted one and bought it. Not sure who blasted it, but it looks somewhat fitting on this knife. Thoughts?

its definately different. but for some reason its does look like it works with the handle. Strange.

It's definately different...to me it makes it look "cheap" but that's just me.

I'd pull the blade and polish it up.

I'm worried it might be all pitted underneath.

Here's the original blade that was on the knife...about 1/4 inch missing due to sharpening. Can't figure out which looks worse/better. Wish I could find a new large reg. profile blade.

Can't say I dig the sandblasted knife, nor the badly sharpened knife.

I'd say keep your eyes on the sale forums, sometimes those regular blades pop up from time to time.

I have to say I really don't like it......I never liked the Hinderer XM-18 blasted blades either......For me, its stonewashed all the way.

Blasted blades are so 1997. Never a good look and ripe for surface rust.

Ripe for rust, that's enough to make me want to remove it! How do I go about removing it?

You can't remove the sandblasted surface finish; it has to be resurfaced - polished to one degree or another, depending on how you want it to look and what other finishing effect you want done (e.g., stonewashed finish - I doubt you could get a decent stonewashed finish over a blasted finish, but I could be wrong).

Here's the kicker, I think it's BG-42 steel, no mark on blade.

Krein regrind? he should be able to make the blade look like new and then maby stone wash it for yah. or you could always send it to chris and see what he could do for ya, if he would do anything at all.

All things considered, other than making sure it had a good edge on it, I'd probably leave it alone.

The warranty is gone anyway but calling CRK and asking if they can fix you up for a price can't hurt. Leaving it alone is probably the next best option as I see it. Regrinding the flats of the blade will mean the knife may have to be refitted as it could easily put the pivot set up out of spec. You will find there is a bit of play if the blade and washers are thinner than the bushing. One can of course take the bushing down a little to meet the blade and washer width but that can so easily become a never ending story. :p

Want to get rid of that one? What steel is it?

Yeah I think checking to see CRK what they can do for a fee would be the better idea in this thread.
