Sand Blasted Blade - Take a look

:I seem to be the only one liking the looks of this blade. I'd leave it alone. If you get another blade for this knife you could always send me this one :p

I am sorry but the sand blasted blade is not a good look.

Because the scales are so unusual and nice I would talk to CRK and see what they can do for you.

the used one looks used, well used

the blaseted one has something different on it, I'd keep it as it's so unique, not a fan myself but that one is just, different.
looks good on those handles

I've had good results putting blasted blades in my ceramic media tumbler. Really smooths out the surface and tumbled blades tend not to rust as much.

Try stone washing it in the current sand blasted state for a while - some makers blast before stonewashing anyway. It may help with the aesthetics a little bit.

stone wash or bead blast... the sand blast there goes okay with the handles ...sets them off. once in a while a matte finish works.

BG-42 isn't likely to rust except in pretty extreme circumstances.

'nother question: what are the chances of effing up the lock/tang interface or affecting the blade pivot area or tang's width dimension? I don't have any personal familiarity with the stonewashing process but I'd want to make sure nothing was going to change, dimensionally, even a small amount, as a result.

Yes, I agree with most, it's differently different!
If given a choice, I would not choose to have that finish. I think it tends to rust easier. Also if you use it, it shows use on the blade much better. Stonewash or satin tends to hide it better.

The problem is that you can't get a regular profile replacement blade any more. :o

I thought I recalled reading a thread that even though they don't make regular blades anymore, they still have some in stock for blade replacements? Has anyone called to verify ?

I spoke with CRK last year at SHOT 2011 and showed them pictures of my "Edge Pro-ed horror" small cgg and they said there was nothing they could do to fix it since so much metal was removed. Only option would be to replace the blade which would be around 130-140$ ish.

My small regular looks like one in the picture but the bevel is much higher...:)

Yeah I think checking to see CRK what they can do for a fee would be the better idea in this thread.

^This. CRK still makes regular profile blades for annuals as well.
