He tried with aluminum oxide, grit 120 and 240. I'm not sure about what pressure he use, but to me there is a problem somewhere.

Thanks for your help guys,

Regards,

Kim

Does the blasting cabinet have a window? Be sure to hold the object being blasted up and blast sideways to reduce the amount of dust kicked up (second best is to lay is on the rack and spray straight down). you may want to add a small light in the cabinet so you can see the pattern being created.

Also, check the pressure and CFMs of the compressor. I like 5 CFMs at 90 PSI. Also, it helps to have a moisture trap in the line, but I don't think that's your problem.

Oh, and 1 quick note, to fix the finish on those knives, the fastest way is to tumble them ($60 tumbler from harbor freight and $30 bag of media from HB as well). However, you'll need to pull the handles off, and that looks like a pain with those pins.

ORRRR

CERAKOTE!!! Love that stuff, but again, handles have to be off so you can bake the paint in the oven.

I have hit the blades on a bench grinder with a wire brush to even out the finish. It also takes away the roughness.

It looks as if he's holding the gun to close to the blade. If he holds the gun farther away from the blade he'll get a broader pattern from the gun and a more even results on the blade.

Does he have a shop vac hooked up to the cabinet? That will help to eliminate the Sandstorm problem so he can see better and adjust distance and angle to the blades.
