Sandblasting a billet

Has anyone tried sandblasting a billet before grinding and folding??? I plan on doing this week to see if it cuts dowm on the grinding.

Yes George, I've tried everything that doesn't work. It doesn't work!

I'll second that! It don't work - been there, tried that, big billet came apart all over the place before I got to the first fold. Oh well - it was just 33 layers of matl. to throw away (sob).
