Yeah, tapatalk fail while working. There was a 1 there with the 5... ah well. Looks good anyways. If you up the sanding a little bit more to 2k grit... it polish's nicely.
 
I believe it is flat.

I just used my fingers with the 250 and 400 grit sandpaper.
I used a sanding block with the 1000 grit.
You should use a sanding block or bar with every grit, especially the coarser ones.

The higher grits essentially polish what the lower grit cuts. If your soft flexing fingers with 250 could cut 'waves' that hours of sanding with 1000 could never remove.


To check if the blade is truly flat, use a Sharpie to draw wavy lines all over the flat of the blade and then make a few passes with the sanding block with 1000. If the Sharpie lines are not completely erased then the blade is not 'flat'.
 
I was just using scrap sandpaper the only piece large enough to use the block was 1000 grit. Wasn't looking for perfection, just a change.
