Sanding clamp design

A friend of mine came up with this clamp design. I modified th

e original design and it works like a charm. 5 or 6" C clamp welded to a piece of 3/16ths plate. A large washer is welded to the clamp swivel. 2 pieces of mild steel are welded to the plate to support the sanding base. The sanding base is 1 1/4" x 10" piece of wood covered with 8 oz. leather.

My hand sanding clamp is a cheap drilling vise with a piece of angle iron bolted to the non-moving jaw side and then cover with leather. I chuck it up in my bench vise.
