Hey guys, i plan on ordering a knife kit from knifekits.com.
The handle scales come seperately and are profiled as well as drilled.

Now since i am working off limited tools, how hard would it be to manually sand g10 with sandpaper?

BTW, my limited tools would be a hacksaw, a file, clamps, and sandpaper (various grits)

The kit i wish to get is http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=1_156&products_id=805

The scales are: http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=1_156&products_id=817

I do a lot of my scale work by hand , I rough shape the contour on the Bader , but then chuck it in a knifemaker vise ( though a reg vise would work ) and use the 1" wide shop rolls of sandpaper ( in a shoe shine motion ) to do the finish work .

You can get the shop rolls at Harbor Frieght in 80 grit up to 320 I believe.

Looks like a good starter project. You should have little trouble shaping those scales with files and paper. Be careful of the dust. I've been advised that if the G10 gets dirty as you work it, it can be cleaned with a toothbrush and either WD-40 or hot soapy water. Use fresh clean paper as you get close to being done. Have fun!

Thanks alot guys.

Has anyone built a folder kit from knifekits.com before?
My only concern for this project is the actual lockup of the linerlock.

How much difficulty could it be to adjust the lock of liner locks?

Pretty easy.
Just take it SLOW.
You can't put the metal back on!
My first Buck/Strider needed LOTS of tweaking to get the lock-up correct, but it was fairly straightforward, and the end result was totally worth it.
