Hey Guys! Thought I would make this thread so I can share my work as I finish it!
For now I just finished this Puukko. It's the first knife that I think I'm happy enough with to show off.
As for materials, it's 1084 steel, with copper fittings, and an oak wood handle. The sheath I made myself from some dyed veg tan. Hope you enjoy!

Here's another knife I just finished. I've sort of been working on it on and off since the beginning of the year.
I forged it from round bar of W1. The handle is kingwood with a black liner. Thanks for looking!

Thanks! ๐Ÿ‘Š Guess we'll see how many knives I can finish this summer!
Great work, keep it coming! Did you also forge the puukko?
Thank you! No, I did stock removal for the puukko. Thinking back on it though, I wish I had forged it since I went the traditional route with the construction and sheath.

Thanks! Maybe I'll make more of these... ๐Ÿค”

Let me know if you do! It's that handle design that really gets me... looks comfy as heck. Slightly longer blade and it would be a perfect work knife for me.

Here's a Japanese Kiridashi I made a few weeks ago for a friend, just hadn't gotten to posting it.
It's made of mild steel and W1 forge welded on top of each other (because it has only one bevel). I was for the most part duplicating the design of a Kiridashi that I saw when visiting Japan some months back.
Hope you enjoy!

That's cool as hell...๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘.......Nice job.๐Ÿ‘Œ

Well, I finally got the knifemaker status, so that'll be nice!
Here's my most recent knife, and it is available in the for sale section.
It's around 16" overall, with a 10" blade (starting from the plunge line). It's made of 1084 steel with a stainless steel fittings and a copper spacer. The handle is made out of dyed and stabalized maple burl, and the sheath is made of carved veg tan leather, with a softer leather that I had to line the inside of the sheath.
Any comments or suggestions are appreciated.
Hope you enjoy!

Here's one I usually wouldn't share here, but I thought I might as well.... ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ
I made it yesterday with a friend of mine who's also getting into this hobby. It's a brute de forge, integral bolser W2 knife with an antler handle and brass butt cap.
What makes this knife special for me, is that we were able to completely finish the knife from raw materials in less than 4 hours. It was a ton of fun working on a time crunch, although the surface finish is far from even nice (36grit belt finish on blade, 120 on handle). While we had to cut some corners to save on time (tempered with a torch, and no pin in the handle) it still turned out to be a nice sturdy knife.
And finally, I apologize for the bad picture, we were in a rush to take it before my friend had to leave.

Thatโ€™s awesome! For less than four hours it looks great.

Hey guys, here's a kitchen knife set I finished recently. It's a forged pair, consisting of a petty chef with a japanese inspired blade with a pretty western style handle, and a paring knife to go with it. The handles are inverted pieces of wood, being arizona ironwood, and maple burl, with a black paper micarta spacer. The blades are 1084 steel and they have a forced patina.
Thanks for looking!

Well I haven't been active for quite a while here... I've been busy getting readjusted to the good old high school schedule, lol.
As for an update though, I've finished up and published my website: sankelknives.com, and I'm just slowly putting in time, a few hours a week... (it's rough)

Oh, also, I went to Maker's Camp up in the Catskills! That was a ton of fun, and I got to meet some amazing people.

(And no, I don't go to university of rochester, but both my parents went!)
