Sankel Knives

Well, I haven't posted here for a while. I think from now on I'll start posting some more WIP pics, so it won't be just finished knives that I show.

Most recently, I've finished an s-guard bowie/fighter style knife that I'm pretty proud of. I'll take better pictures once I make its sheath.
It has a W2 blade, hot blued mild steel guard, and a stabilized buckeye burl handle.

I'm also working through a batch of 6 knives which are almost ready for heat treat. Some of these are damascus, which is a first for me.

The large one in the middle is an gaucho-inspired blade, made out of a very low-layer damascus end-cut. And the top knive is just W1 and will be a small simple EDC design.IMG_20250330_134051676_HDR.jpg
This is them as forged:

I'm also working on a tiny full tang EDC made of twisted damascus (bottom knife), and a hidden tang hunter(ish) knife made out of a slice off the end of a damascus offcut.

Finally the last two knives are a quick petty chef that I forged from a scrap piece of W2 (don't have an individual picture of it), my main goal with it was to forge it as close to finish thickness as possible, so really after heat treat it just needs to be sharpened (no grinding necessary), and then another hidden tang knife with a false edge and hollow ground bevels. The idea with this one is to make it as simply as possible, so it could easily become something I could do a run of, or something I could easily teach others to make. I have two design ideas for that concept.

Thanks for looking! Hopefully I'll start posting more here.

Looking good young man...👍👍👍.......Cant wait to see the end results from all thise😉

Just finished taking some nice photographs of the knives I've finished since my last post here (except for the smaller integral bolster knife I showed above, as it was sold before I got the chance). Hope you enjoy!

First we have my first finished damascus knife. It has a forge scale finish mild steel guard and a dyed and stabalized maple burl handle, with of course a stamped leather sheath:

Next I have a simpler EDC knife, made from W2 steel and purpleheart wood, with a brass liner:

And finally, I also made this quick and tiny little kiridashi and sheath for a friend of mine:
