I am a huge fan of benchmade and their axis lock and actually have a 555HG on the way to me now, but I found out about this little knife yesterday and can't stop staring. I know its a cheap chinese knife, and a knockoff of sorts, but it really seems like a great/incredible knife for the price. I was wondering if any of you have/had/handled it and can give me some extra insight before I go ahead and buy it. Also does anyone know where I can get one within the US so I don't have to wait a month for it to ship here from china?

Thanks

allot hate srm from their pilfering of designs, and patents like the axis lock. that alone is enough to hate srm. seeing how china law differs from america and even international law and these knives aren't meant to be shipped outside of china, i guess one could argue....but i see no point. let's talk the knives instead of politics........i bet that won't last long though.:)

srm builds quality stuff for low bucks. at one time they built or maybe still do spyderco's chinese made stuff and byrd line, as well as the benchmade red class or so i heard. also allot of other good american name brand chinese made products. i own a couple srms and the heat treat is really good, imho, quality is there, and for a low dollar knife you can do allot worse. this particular knife you are asking about is smaller than i like, so i've never owned it. the springs they use are much stiffer firmer than benchmades, the axis copy is not smooth and easy to do with one finger, like benchmades. keep that in mind. hope that helps.

Smaller than I expected it to be. I got one just to check it out, and that's all I've done with it.

Where'd you get it from and what handle material did you get? First impressions (besides smaller than you expected)? Pictures?

same exact one as the pic you posted. i'll post a size comparison pic when i get home.

I bought one, handled it, then gave it to a friend.

Pros:
It's only ~$12
The lock works the same as Axis locks
It's lightweight
Bottle opener works

Cons:
Corners are not rounded on the handle
The G10 version will rip up pockets

If you want to know where to get it, search on Google.

Thanks a ton!!

here it is side by side with a Kershaw Leek and Spyderco Paramilitary 2. I got it from either exduct or aliexpress.

I've gotten a handful of SRM's, and the 763 is definitely my favorite of the lot. To my knowledge, it's a mostly original design as well (minus the Axis lock). The knife in the pic (which is actually my knife!) has the G10 handles w/ no liners. They also make them with black aluminum and tan FRN handles. I don't know of any particular domestic retailers, but you could try eBay. I got mine from Exduct.

Got one just to play with the lock mechanism, and while there isn't anything wrong with it, I haven't ever really carried it because it isn't comfortable in the hand, it is smaller than I expected, the edge chipped out the first time I used it, and operating the lock is awkward due to the short handle length. That said, for 12 bucks, it makes a decent tiny beater. Just prefer my 710 if we're talking SRM. Got mine from the big auction site.

I'll say that I like mine a lot and that I'm probably going to try the aluminum handle one next. I'm impressed with the quality overall, and amazed at the quality given the price.

I've never handled a mini-grip, but if the Benchmade axis lock is better than this then I want to try it!

do not get the aluminum handle version of this knife. the screws on the aluminum handle knife is bigger than a t-6 smaller than a t-7. you can not disassemble the knife. the "G10" handle has a different screw. the screws on my aluminum 763 are stripped. i'm think getting the "G10" one. other than that the knife is incredibly good value.

own the g10 version as well as some other sanrenmu axis lock knifes. this is their easiest opening model however i think if suffers from being too small. The extra 1/4 inch or whatever on benchmade mini's makes ease of open/close a breeze
on this small knife even with my smaller hands when using axis lock i find i cupp the knife too much during close and use too much force on open. Also the thumbstub is kinda close to frame too and that depression doesn't give the best access. i tried to sand mine down but must of dozed off and burnt through to the liners and omega spring.
otherwise its a great little knife for the price. as mentioned alot of the big companies farm their offshore production to sanrenmu and they make decent budget knives

Got this knife and it stays on my keychain serving double duty as a small utility knife and bottle opener.

Mine was sharp out of the box, but I touched it up on a sharpmaker. The axis lock holds tight and mine deploys really quick. Some peopl e complain about the sharp edges, but mine didn't come with any.

Looks like a cheap Chinese piece of crap to me. Why not just go to your local gas station if you want a crap knife?

Only those that don't have one will say it's crap. :)

One thing to note: never lube the mating surface between the bar & blade tang.
