Sanrenmu... not for me.

... I am not crazy about the phrase "for the money". Is it a good knife period? ....
Exactly! This phrase has essentially zero content, besides probably saying that the staff is not good as such.
Ferrari is a good car. Is it good "for the money"? I do not know - what do you mean?
Opinel and Mora in my opinion are good knives. I do not really feel it is necessary so add this "for the money"...
Is this phrase magical - can you turn crap into good staff by saying "for the money"? :D

From the ones I've handled, the Land and Navy models were the lowest quality. The Enlans and Bees seem much better built IMO.

Well, the two SRM 763's I've handled are good knives period. I have made in the USA knives which cost me 5 times as much and which aren't as good at being knives.

That being said, if Benchmade came out with an exact copy of the SRM 763, except with ~60 HRC 154cm steel at the same price point as, say, a griptilian, I'd buy it in about three heartbeats.

I have tried a lot of the SRM, Land, BEE, Navy knives -- I have 14 different knives from these guys -- and the best one I have come across is the BEE L05 or L05-1. Really good ergonomics.

I just picked up a couple of SRM's offerings to try out. If they are half as good as the Tenacious I will be happy.

I wish I had the disposable income to collect knives but I don't. All of them are users but I try to not abuse them. I think I will hesitate less with these though to use them a little harder or for tasks at work.

Staples in cardboard boxes are the devil :)

Now that would be ironic...:D;)

I only have experience with the 710 models and no blade play at those I had. I still have the silver colored 710. For me it's a good knife and I agree with others saying that it's a good affordable knife.

I just won't buy a SRM again, because most wind up being a copy of another makers knife or they take patented features from other companies (such as AXIS locks).

SRM knives aren't for me, either. I don't need any knockoff crap, stolen/unlicensed designs, or cheap unreliable junk. :thumbdn:

What I've come to understand after reading posts about Sanrenmu and owning one is this... misery loves company.

I feel cheated even though it wasn't much money. Someone gave me their garbage to throw away and I paid them to let me do it.

Anyone want to make a destruction... err, I mean strength test video with this knife?

What happened to you is that you bought a lemon. I have bought lemons costing several times what you paid and these were from two of the Big Three ( and I'll leave that lay ). It happens.

I wont get caught up in the schoolyard like "my brand is better than your brand" or "knives from that country suck" discussions that too often crop up in these threads either.

Buy enough knives from different manufacturers over time and you will eventually buy a lemon , it's the same with any mass produced product out there whether it's TV's or Knives.

P.S. Out of curiosity in the last six months I have purchased one of the SRM and one of the BEE models , bot of them function every bit as well as any of my knives from the Big Three. They are solid and well made and what I consider good value knives.

thats a shame but oh well, different strokes for different folks as they say

to the op, did you buy it used from someone via evilbay or such? wouldn't surprise me if they dumped a bad one on you.....

that said....just the name srm brings 'em out of the woodwork. my srm's are all good knives...and not just for the money. too each their own though.....

I've handled nearly 10 sanrenmus and all of them had fit that was better than my benchmades. Finish wasnt amazing but that should not be a gripe on $10 knife. Hate them for moral reasons and not for the quality of it because there is nothing close to the bang for buck value of a srm.

I thought about adding this , or not and decided to afterall. :) These is really no 'moral' ground here to be upset with SRM or whoever , since one of the American Big Three has been known to show no regard whatsoever for ideas that belonged to others before they decided to "borrow" them for their own. ;)

Folks may wish to consider that before bashing SRM on those grounds.

I bought several and was impressed by the quality for the cheap price.I carried one for some time without an issue.I wont buy, use,or carry them any more because of the blatent design rip off they exhibit. Also,i like to carry and keep knives that have some value.Somehow a nice looking Custom,Benchmade, Spydie,S&M,or Buck in my pocket just gives me a better feeling and attitude. But that's just me.If a $6.00 knife gives you the same feeling or you think im crazy that's cool.In fact you may be correct.

True enough, and I believe I know which of the "big three" you're referring to here... and I don't buy their products any more either.

Check out the Enlan EL-02, its an incredible knife.

Yes it is quite remarkable that one.

What I think about knives like the recent big Enlans is that they make a better known budget knife, like a Tenacious (or a Byrd or a few other contenders) in principle obsolete. You get very much the same level of fit and finish (no surprise as it's this kind of company that western company use to outsource), for very little money. Currently I think it's better to start with an EL-02, and then save towards a Manix or a Paramilitary.
