SantaGanza, who tripped at the starting bell?

I did a speed PING test with Ohio, It took 15 sec. So I sent mine at 9:54 and 50 sec. May have jumped the gun ???
Well I tried........

My email sat for one hour and obviously timed out right when I hit send. It took me another 16 seconds to log in and send my drafted email.:o I almost punched myself!

My connection was not working at all, and I only got BF to load about 3 times the first half hour or so...

SO, when the page did load in a goofy, distorted way, I got frustrated and sent out the emails at the fake Jerry fake sticky post.

Yeah, it was fun...and it is all in good fun...but I would kind of like to kick fake Jerry in the cojones....just for fun.:mad::mad:

:D

My email was primed and ready to go. The page was refreshed, and the instant my computer clock said 6:55 the sent button was clicked. The email was actually logged as sent at 6:54. But I would bet dollars to dimes, that the email was not received until much later. The internet connection I was on is not the fastest, and it was wireless.

Had I known you could simply just start sending early and only the earlies would be thrown out, you better believe I would have started sending long before the default, and kept it up until a ninja Amy-0 jumped out and killed me with stealth infi.

Great fun, however. No serious mistakes, no accidental log outs, etc. I really should have gone for the $500 shop credit, though.......

That sucks for you guys. I myself actually forgot about the race. So no Busses for me :(

um, that sticky from the "fake jerry" was actually a sticky posted by the real Jerry him self, messing with us. Which was funny. I did not fall for that one, because it said "GO GO GO NO NO NO" if I remember correctly.

I don't know if my email at 9:55:01 was too slow, or if my clock wasn't synced with theirs and it arrived too early, or if it was just slow getting there, and I got beat out. I wasn't fooled by any of the fake jerries, but the real Jerry posing as a fake jerry ALMOST got me with the ho ho ho no no no thread.

Whatever. It was still a stressfully good time.

 I...wouldn't recommend doing that! It's one thing to send a few, but one every 1000th of a second, or even one every second only causes a lot more stress on Amy when sorting through them all. :) Could you imagine if we all started doing this??? ;) Plus, if people start doing that, trust me when I say that this would cause the rules to be altered to keep email barrages from happening.

Hi Jaxx -

Yea - I understand your thinking but that is how the rules are set up.

If 450 people sent 1700 emails in the hour, I suspect that some of the winners were using spam mailers or some automated email proggie.

I will abide by the rules. I must start planning my treachery early now that I have a bit of experience.

Personally, I thought about sending a few when I had issues reloading the pages, and I thought about sending it seconds before (I didn't set myself up for more than one send in any quick repetition.) But my feeling for the Ganza is kind of a 1 shot 1 kill. Yeah if I had really given myself an advantage and set up a system to shoot about 10-20 emails starting at 9:54:55 EST I probably could have nailed the Hell Razor I wanted, but despite my trip up I only wanted to send 1 e-mail. Just my opinion of course. The rules are good, but I would feel a little bad personally if I sent more than 5 e-mails.

Well, if that's how the rules are set up, and you plan to abide by the rules, then I'm going to get one of those programs and abide by the rules... And then others will do the same...and then more will follow suit...and so on and so on... Which might force Jerry & Amy to quickly change those rules to a new "One Shot, Hit Or Miss" rule, and that will be that! :p;) Then HOG trickery will take on a whole new meaning when you shoot your one shot early on a fake Jerry or old thread... :D

I had a little bit of this in my tool kit:

Atomic time baby!

Let's see, 1 email per second, for 1 hour == 3600 emails. Per person.

Where's the fun in that?

I sent my email right when my clock on windows hit 9:55. I'm not sure what you guys are doing wrong but I won $450. :D

Precisely. :) I wasn't being serious, except to point out that if one or more participants began to use mass emailing programs, others would follow suit, which would eventually cause a rules change. The harder it is to run a Ganza, the less likely Busse might continue to have them, at least under the current rules. As it is, it must be a PITA to sort the emails NOW... Could you imagine if Amy had to sort through 3600 emails per person??? "Two Weeks" would be more like 2 months instead of 2 days!!
