I've completed my first overseas transaction - with Santi, in Thailand - and wanted to post some observations about the experience:
* I've heard a lot of stories about the difficulties involved in overseas transactions. I experienced none of those. Instead, all I had to do was fill out a pretty simple customs declaration form and ship the knife normally from that point forward.
* Shipping costs were higher than shipping CONUS. When the buyer already knows that, and is willing to pick up the difference, it ceases to be a problem. Cost of shipping a Busse Basic 9 was $21 from my local PO. Smaller knives can he shipped for considerably less, Global Priority via the USPS.
* Santi, as a buyer, is a very easy guy to do business with. He paid quickly, very patiently guided me through the process of completing the overseas deal, and made a good-faith effort to keep things on track.
I'm a lot less reluctant to consider overseas transactions now, and Santi's a great guy to do business with. I wouldn't have any hesitation in doing business with him again.
