can the double cut surface still rust, i do a lot of saltwater fishing and that would be 1 bad ass bade for cutting up mackerel and squid :)

Yes, it rusts easier than a satin finish. But if you take reasonable care it will be fine. It is the competition finish that rusts just by looking at it :)

This has been my experience as well, as long as the stock has arrived from Wauseon.

"Two weeks" is just the standard answer when dealing with Busse Combat, as in "When will the next great model be ready? Two weeks." Inside joke, as I've gathered from my piglet research. Artists don't like to be rushed.
 
Was this the only time the SAR4 was offered in double cut or was DC an option when ordering during it's production run?

What's the benefit of putting a satin finish on it first and then doing a DC trament?

There was no production run, just some BCS offerings. So, yes, that DC version was only made/sold that once.

To do a really good DCBB job, the knife needs to be finished smooth, to near-satin, first.
