SAR-8 (and Busse) first impressions, or, "Dear God, you call this slender?"

hey jaxx, he said another busse, in a couple more years, do him a favor and just put a couple of teaser pics up. do a custom, an LE and a regular CG, your selection.

just be forewarned ancient, i bought my first busse in blade of 2009 and now the count is up to four busse knives, three bussekins and the boss street is on the way soon. amy said at blade that i had an addiction...pretty much

oh that ramen noodles is hilarious, jaxx, but oh so true!!!

so ancient, you could have ran, and was strongly advised to do so, but noooooooooo, now you are done!!! and remember, there is "no regrets"!!!!

You lucky dog - I walked out of Blade Atlanta with my first INFI, too - but I bought four INFI blades at that show alone, plus a few scrap yards and a swamp rat....

I just recently thinned out my herd a lot, getting rid of all the knives I don't actually use. It brought me down to 15 Bussekin knives - the lowest number I've had in my possession in a while. And that number is downright pitiful compared to many (most?) HOGS. My desire to limit myself to nothing but users that I actually think will get use is the only thing keeping me from owning many, many, many more.

It's more than an addiction - it's a carnal need, like food or water or air.

And I've been eyeing those SAR-8's, and an original Satin Jack, and maybe a Cultie, and I was very tempted by a Nuc EDC I was offered a shot at.............

Ancient - run, run while you still maintain the fantasy that you don't need any more INFI. It won't last. Trust me on this one.

That I will never get another Busse knife is not my claim. But all knife slots are filled right now. I have to work up through the rest of the list, now. Several guns, computers, vehicles, etc.. I don't foresee needing another fixed-blade knife any time soon, and I don't collect things just to collect them. I'll know where to go, though, if the need does eventually arise for another combat or wilderness knife. There's no denying the quality of this piece.

(For those of you who are curious, the next two weapon on the list are probably a CZ 550 in .375 H&H Magnum, and an ACR, if that system ends up being everything it was designed by Magpul to be.)

see ancient, we could talk to you about the type a personality or the y chromosomes but it is all good, there is no sense in talking like the white coats.

i was going to join aa one time, but i figured that is for quitters.

see mustard man's comments above and note that we are smmmmmaaaallll time buyers, by most standards.

but just know that you will overcome, be strong, don't yield to the urges....

we look to hear from you on your next purchase in about a month, and until then the cravings will be so strong that you will be on here most nights of the week and don't worry we cannot tell if you go to the exchange to look at least four times a day!!!!

Thank you, Oge. Stricknine, roger that! I don't suppose you'd like to buy me my rifle, though, just to speed things along?

hey ancient, i feel ya man, with the choices of weapons being the CZ 550 in .375 H&H Magnum, and an ACR, i better hold off on the gift giving at the moment...btw, excellent choices on firearms.

i could say yeabut, however my better half say they live in the woods!!!

i have often sacrificed firearm purchases for high quality knives, but hey it is what makes the world go round, especially for me. i am with ya on the trade offs, if you are like me, i have to switch around quite a bit!!!

all in all it does not make busse knives any less addictive, and it is dang fun!!!

Nice review! Here is my SAR8 LE only my 2nd Busse but more will be coming shortly!

Acquisition is fun. I am a fan of acquisition. The time, the work, the research and premeditation, the saving and waiting and planning to get exactly the right item--and then the warm satisfaction I feel every time I handle that item, be it my Emerson or my Busse or my Surefire or my H&K... I don't have many things, but each one is a grinning devil of pleasure. This SAR-8 is in precious company.

Acquisition is great, but use is even better... I wanna see some pics of that knife taking a beating :D

Congrats on your purchase and may it serve you well!

Congrats man! I had a question? I ordered my Sar8 over the weekend and I was just wondering how long it took to recieve yours? I wait is the worst part!!
Thanks

Ancient, everyone here buys only the knives they need....

...I mean do you know how bad are the withdrawals if you miss your INFI fix?

My order was processed by the Busse Company Store on Thursday the 7th. It was shipped that same afternoon. It was delivered the afternoon of Monday the 11th. That's... half a business day to process the order and one, two... two and a half business days to deliver. It was a long weekend of waiting, though, those two non-business days in the middle.

Volk: Silly me. But of course.
