Here's a similar folder I picked up last weekend here in Berlin at the Import Shop Trade Show. The knife was made by Is Lunas in Sardinia. Their website is: http://web.tiscali.it/coltelleriaislunas/
The maker was at the show with a lot of interesting pieces.
Yes, that's pretty much the pattern, with only a slight difference in the blade shape.
I'm not a fan of 'natural' horn in handles; it might look better to someone, especially if you are displaying the knife, but I find it uncomfy, and usually too bulky, even on small knives.
I'm glad that some of the 'newer' makers are exposing their products in other countries. I've never handled a knife made by "Is Lunas" but sooner or later some will fall into my hands, at least for inspection
Thanks for sharing
Glad you like it.
You know, it's very nice to see that some people here like "our" knives...as for everything else, Sardinians are pretty proud of their own traditions
I will probably be given a smaller (pocketable) Arburesa for Xmas. I "need" one to complete my "team of 5" knives. I just have to decide the maker, and the handle material (should be ram's horn, but, even if it's not really typical here, I've seen a couple in dark buffalo horn that seemed like sirens calling me ).
I will, of course, post pics of it when I have it in my hands.
It can fold for sure. I've seen it live, and it does have a real pivot and so on. Of course, not something that one man alone can fold...
And no, it's not really sharp, of course. Not like a pocket knife for sure. My memory tells me about an edge like a used axe or something like that. Profiled, but not really sharp. If it had been sharp, with its weight, it would have cut the thing that holds it
Anyway, since I might probably go visit the maker before Xmas (and some others, to see where I will get my new arburesa), I will take a more careful look.
OK, that's what I was thinking, that's awesome!
It'd be pretty impressive to have a knife that size that can execute a paper pushcut... Talk about a chick magnet!
