I choose my knives on the same basis as you. I am a backpacker and weight vs function is my primary concern. At about 17 oz I have the B11. At about 7 oz I have the Scrapper 5 . I had a SAR 8, I have a Tank Buster, a Boss Street and Muk. Which knife to bring is always my concern. And I usually always come to the same decision. If a fire is to be made, the B11 brings the most chopping punch for the weight and its light enough to do most other things. My SAR 8 and TB both weight just as much as the B11 (+/- a few oz) but dont have the power or length for batonning. I usually carry a secondary knife though if I bring the B11, but its usually a Mission Ti 3inch knife weighing like 3 oz or my Swiss Army Multi-tool.
If no wood is to be chopped, I take the Muk or Scrapper 5 which also run about 7 oz. My other heavier knives like the Tank Buster or NMFBM or SAR 8, I sav those for car camping or safe queens. Weight is just too important on long hikes.
However when the 1311 rolls in depending on the weight, it may replace the B11. who knows?
