Would you please tell us how you made this, the dimensions, materials, how it's attached to the frog and describe how it's put together?
The more I see it the better I like the idea.:D

Thanks in advance!!!!:)

I'll most gladly cover this in detail at a later time Yvsa, but right now got to head back out to the campsite. Been working all morning setting up the site for a medieval event, and just popped back by the house to pick up more stuff. Well, that, and to see what mischief Uncle Bill might get up to.

I'm as full of joy as a teenage boy on prom night! Going to see some dear friends and fellow archers that I've not seen since before I left for Afghanistan last year. Not only that, tomorrow I'll be shooting in a tournament against them. Dadgum, now I sure wish I'd found time to practice.

Happy Independence Day

Yvsa, you might ask Terry Sisco for some input.

After seeing Sarge's baldric, I realized it was what I was looking for a hunting rig I needed. So I asked Terry to see what he could do, and he came up with a real winner.

I needed a baldric flexible enough to a) carry a quiver of arrows on the back, b) carry the old style Tawar on the back (Conan the Barbarian style), and/or c) attach a Tawar, Khuk (right now my 21 inch GS is on it) or anything else on the side end where Sarge put his Tarwar.

Terry did a straight forward baldric then put a simple leather loop for me on the end which worked out well. I can slide a regular waist belt through throughor on top of the loop to hold the baldric steady when carrying stuff on the back. I can also put a detachable 2.5 - 3 inch metal ring on the side end to hold a Tarwar, Khuk, etc. Sarge's idea of putting a ring on the end is smart. The Tarwar/Khuk/whatever rotates out of the way when sitting down or kneeling.

By the way, when the Kami's moved the Tawar frog from the top of the scabbard to the side of the scabbard, they seemed to know what they were doing. Frog at the side is closer to the point of balance of the sheathed Tawar so that it stays at an angle when on the side baldric with a ring. That means no more getting jabbed in the leg by the scabbard tip even when running! Also works the same way with large khuks if you can squeeze the metal ring in between the frog and the scabbard.

I'm experimenting right now to see what else could be done with it. Already put my Trishul Decker on the front chest strap with handle down so it can be drawn quickly (eventually to be used as or replaced by a pig sticker). Trying to see if a shotgun can be carried on the back with the Tarwar. Getting a shotgun shell holder to put on the front strap beneath the knife.

Been meaning to post a pic but never got my digital camera act together.

Yvsa, I didn't forget about you. By the way, I took second place in the archery tournament, got bested by a friend who's a right fair shot with his crossbow (I always tease him that a longbow is a man's weapon, and a crossbow is nothing more than an infernal contraption).;)

Anyhow, on to the baldric;

- Measure from the belt loop on your left hip to the center of your chest (assuming you're right handed and wearing pants:rolleyes: ), that's measurement "A"

- Measure from the same belt loop, around your back, over your right shoulder, to the center of your chest (try for exact same spot as center that you used in measuring "A"), that's measurement "B"

- When you measure out the stap parts for your baldric, make sure and leave extra material for the attachments at the buckle/ring, and to have some extra for adjusting fit, as hinted at in the illustration

- Ring/buckle attachments can be done with rivets, but I prefer to glue & sew with strong nylon thread

Coming next, some variations on a "Frog":D

Thanks Sarge, et al!!!!
Very much appreciated!!!!:D

Wouldn't the Baldric really look kewl with some hand forged iron rings and buckle?!?!?!?

That picture looks like the uniform they used on those early Star Trek movies.

An unintentional side effect caused by my lack of artistic ability.

Yvsa, I do know a blacksmith who specializes in medieval iron work. I'll have to see if I can dig up his card 'cause that's a great idea.:D

your recent posts have illustrations that make things very easy to understand. Something new? or have you been hiding this ability all along?

Nothing new Kis, just regular old Windows Power Point (same program we generally use to prepare briefing slides, hence the proficiency).
